Took the lil feller out for a couple of hours on opening day and he took out two sprouse grouse, and I took a third because he couldn't see it.  Prior to the hunt i tunred him loose with the .410 and a paper plate at about 20 feet, to warm him up. He made me proud and did a good job.

Nice work Wyatt.

Todd, you getting that camera is the best thing I ever see happen to a person.

How long have I known you on the dang internet? 6?, 7?, 8? years?  And no one ever seen a picture posted.

C'mon...get out there and snap some more now.

Good Shootin Wyatt!  Won't be long before Dad's buying you a 12 gauge.

Thanks fellas.

That lil smoke pole he has was given to me by my Dad when I was 8, and this year I'm passing it on to Wyatt. (Insert teary eyed smiley)  That lil .410 killed a LOT of critters for me over the years, and I hope Wyatt gets just as much use out of it too.

Yeah, they are good eat'n. A kinda red meat when cooked just right is awesome. I didn't figure Wyatt would want or let alone like it after he saw me clean'em, but he did and wants to go get more this week off. I already told the wife we had to go because it was in my Dad-Manual.  :readthis: :innocentwhistle:

Wyatt,

Congratulations on the grouse.  I have seen flashes of them a few times while squirrel hunting in southern Ohio and they are fast and know how to quickly fly behind trees.  They are a difficult bird to hunt.

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Great pix!....I started out chasin partridge and snowshoe hare with my first gun, a single shot .410...them grouse is tough hunting !

Great pictures, something he'll remember a lifetime.  Some of the best times I had in the field were with my kids, first dove, first quail, first deer.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs
