I finished this call up yesterday. It is a piece of elk antler and  scrap wood for the mouth piece. About 1 minute into turning the call my tool rest fell apart and I couldn't lock it down so I had to turn it kinda one handed so I could hold the tool rest in place. I guess today I gotta go get a new bolt to hold it back together, maybe a C clamp if all else fails.  If that doesn't work there is always weld.   :roflmao:   It's one of those old HF lathes.

I might do that Glenn.  :roflmao:   I don't get out much. I just bought the 14mm 4" bolt I needed to fix it and it was 5 bucks. Not alot but I was surprised at the price for one bolt.

Thanks fellas I appreciate the nice comments.  I think Alscalls was biting his lip over the $5.00  bolt.  :roflmao:

Well I can say that I would not be able to make anything close to that if my rest broke.  Great looking finish.

You're right Al. If the lathe was that old there wouldn't be a cord on it.  :roflmao:  :roflmao:  :roflmao:

What some folks can do with a piece of scrap wood, elk antler, and one of those broken old HF lathes. Very, very nice sir ...  :highclap: ... that call is almost to pretty to hunt with ...  :eyebrow:
