After reading HaMeRs post and seeing some of the local ground from that area, I wanted to post some of my area the first is a sign as you are entering the Mendocino National Forest where I work.

As I drove up the hill into the forest I noticed the fog layer coming in and tried to get as many pics before the fog got there, this pic is looking out to the east towards one of our fire lookouts (covered by clouds).

I went around 400 yards down the road and snapped this one looking towards the north, then took another towards the east.

Drove a little further up the hill and snapped a few back towards the valley at the vinyards and walnut orchards, and a corner of Clear Lake.

Then the fog came in and I called it a day.

Wow.  I can't get over how water shapes the landscape in your country.  Thanks for sharing that with me.
I say what I think not think what I say.

I had one more pic, right when fog came in. :doh2:

I spose all the lakes and rivers are on top of the hills and bluffs in Canada, Barry :laf: :laf:

Nice pics Mark. Sure looks like that stuff could hold a pile of coyotes.

I think that's North Cali Vic. The Southern 1/2 looks more like,,, well let's just keep this a nice post shall we??

That is some very nice scenery you got out there. I can see where your coyote hunting would be difficult. I liked the picture of the Walnut groves & vineyards the best.

Thanks for sharing!!  :yoyo: :yoyo:

Hey Jim, who's Mark?  This country holds all kinds of varmits, the law enforcement officers (LEOs) on our forest pulled over 500 thousand marrijuana plants last year. I have ran into quite a few gardens looking for coyotes, deer, and just hiking.

nor-cal...
Thanks for posting the photos.  You have some beautiful country out there.  it is good to see it again.  I killed a fork horn buck in the Mendocino National Forest with an open sight 30-30 on a sweltering summer day,  many years ago in what feels like another life.   In those days deer season opened in July if I remember correctly, or maybe August for rifle and July for bow.  I never did figure out the logic of that.  Highway 1 is extra nice.

Hey Jim, who's Mark?

Yeahhhhh Baxter made sure to point it out to me that I screwed up, but he was careful enough to wait 24 hours so the world can see me as the maroon that I am. :doh2:

I dont know why I thought your name was Mark, and I can't back peddle out of it now if I tried. :nono:

Okanagan, Yeah the area these photos were taken the deer season for rifle they are just losing there velvet on there antlers. The temps are mid 80-100+ I wait and go a little further north only had snow once in 9 deer seasons, and season ends before the rut. The county that borders the forest to the south is lake county, they legalized medical marijuana a few years ago and the growers have really moved in. The deer pop. is down bear is at an all time low. When we go in to clean up some of these grow opperations we find deer carcass everywhere. Its really sad, I have worked for this forest since 2001 and watch it deteriate, we have to be escorted to certian parts of the forest by law enforcement just to do project work. On some occasions we can't try to put out forest fires until the area has been cleared, and deemed safe to proceed, the little 3 acre fire is now 100+ and movin.

Jim no worries
