flowers

I had no idea where to post this. It's not hunting or fishing and it's not a game call.     I went out to the shop today and after standing there a few minutes just didn't want to turn a call. So I went out in the yard and snapped off a few branches off a box elder tree and decided to make some flowers for my wife "that never hurts to keep her happy". Anyway this is the result of my turnings today.

Well you posted it in the right spot, but  did you say turned flowers?
By that ...one would be led to believe that you made these flowers on the lathe.

Yeah they are turned on the lathe. I cut up some box elder branches about 2 inches long and as close to 5/8" dia. as I could and popped them in the collet chuck and started spinning them out. After they are turned while still spinning I just touch them with a paint brush for a little color. I can't take credit for it. I seen a video on youtube last winter and thought I'd give it a try. Pretty simple to do actually. You can do about one flower  a minute.

How'd you get the green, just do that afterwards?

The green outer part of the flowers are the bark. I guess even these will partly wilt when that bark turns brown.

Thanks guys. They were fun to make. It only takes about 30 seconds per flower to turn one. Must be why I liked doing it.
