My daughter and I are here in Las Vegas attending the 40th annual SCI (Safari Club International) Convention at the Mandalay Bay. The size of this convention is mind boggeling. Hundreds of exhibit booths, and thousands of people wandering around.

I think I've OD on viewing and fondling double rifles costing more than my truck! A few that cost more than most peoples homes. Simply unreal...

Unbelievable number of taxidermy mounts on display.

An unprecedented number of older fat guys with young, beautiful, buxom "ladies" hanging off their arms. Undoubtably their nieces.....  :innocentwhistle:

A couple more days and I'll return with some pictures and observations.

If SCI is wearing you out FOs, good thing you missed the recent SHOT Show.

Been a lot of years since I belonged to some of the SCI chapters in the Rocky Mountain region and hunted on affiliate properties in several states.

"... young, beautiful, buxom "ladies..."

Some of them ARE probably nieces (of somebody), but that's about the only kind of women that are allowed to be residents here (might even be a city ordnance?   :innocentwhistle:).  Dime a dozen to look at, but usually those on the arms of fat guys cost more than your truck to "fondle".
(hint... get away from The Strip and casino districts and fondling the same is free as often as not.  :yoyo:)

At least I'd bet you are enjoying the weather... why some of us live here and put up with the super hot summers.   :whew:

The weather was indeed pleasant. Sunny skies and low to mid 60's.

This was my first time attending SCI. A much larger show than the Dallas Safari Club Convention.
I don't believe I'll be renewing my membership. Just irks me that in order to attend the convention, you have to become a member. The price of admission is ridiculous too.

I much prefer DSC and will continue to support them.

I had an opportunity to visit several of the optics manufacturers booths.

The new Swarovski EL Range binoculars are simply fantastic! I've owned the Leica Geovids, and have had an opportunity to use the Zeiss RF in the hunting fields. The Swaro feel in hand and ergo's has them both beat.

Leupold's new VX-6 series is a winner. Prior to SCI I had an opportunity to test and evaluate a 2-12x42mm to several of my Euro rifle scopes (Kahles, Swarovski, Zeiss). The VX-6 is optically superior to the Zeiss Conquest, and just lags behind the Swarovski Z3 series.

Their new illuminated rheostat and reticles are an improvement. Their illuminated German #4 is closer to their Post & Duplex. FOV is very generous, as is the eye relief and eye box. I think a VX-6 1-6x24mm illuminated German #4 is in the future for my .375 H&H

My daughter and I drooled over and fondled a FLIR scout PS32 thermal monocular. I believe a rifle and/or scope purge is in order as I simply NEED one for hog hunting!

No shortage of taxidermy mounts and displays throughout the entire convention center (spanned two entire floors).

Where are the pics of the young, beautiful buxom ladies?

Nice looking displays - I especially like the one of the indian and horse getting tossed by the buffalo.

I agree that is a very cool scene. love the arrows they are a little bit to far back though, they should bring their bows into an expert.
