Whats shaking with the Gobblers

When I have been driving I have been seeing a few out in the fields.  Since I didn't get a license I just look and keep driving.

Season just opened here on Monday and we got snow.  Warmed up a little yesterday and today was pretty nice and some gobblers bit the dust.  I havent had any desire to go for some reason.  To hung up on them Muskies I guess.

Hey Jim ive been several times this has been the worst season ive had in awhile i killed the one opening morning an since then its went down hill (LOL).Mostly my own fault like bad set ups,over calling,trying to get to close you name it  feels like im a rookie again.Ive been on several birds and called them within 50 60 yards and hang on me just out of site cant seem to close the deal this year for some reason    !

  maybe i need to cut back on the coffee before i go in the woods  i get to wired up some times and rush things lol

I've been hunting a lot but they ain't, I say, they ain't gobblin in my neck of the woods.   

I've heard maybe two or three the whole season.  They gobble a very few times early then hush up right after fly down. 

I've seen hens every single day.  This morning I had a hen no more than 15 yards from me for at least 30 minutes.   Another one came in about two hours later.  I quit hunting at noon today.
Since I wasn't hearing anything, I killed a jake on 4/17 at the first opportunity.  A bird in the hand........ as they say.     The young feller tasted great!

I had an excellent chance at a big gobbler the size of godzilla last week (Thursday I think).  I totally screwed the whole deal up.  I won't give the gory details because I don't want to be totally embarrassed and made fun of on an open forum.

Gatdamn birds anyhow!! I was in the middle of 7 or 8 birds this AM & they gobbled from 6:08 til 8:30 all over the place. And not a one would come up the hill to my decoys. Down the hill to my decoys. Across the hill in front of me to my decoys!! If it wasn't Spring Season it woulda really  !!   

I love this time of year!!!!!!!!

I'm not a turkey hunter, and I'm seeing them come down off the hills and prance around with their arses in the air, fans wide open, every morning on the way to work.
They sure stick out, with a lightly frosted pasture

Been a tuff season here so far but I did manage to get one Wednesday Morning.

  I don't think I could buy a gobble with a credit card! I have had one tom in gun range this year and he was too short to kill that far from the truck. Lots of hen action but no shooters!
