I got me some real nice fancy Walnut last week. Had to make a Crow call with it.

And 3 Bolt Action pens with Walnut. I thought the River Buffalo Horn was waaaay cool. Then I thought how cool would it be to make them with some AAAA Walnut. This isn't Claro Walnut but it's the next best thing I could find. It is Missouri Walnut.

Those are ral nice, but I think I prefere the more tactical looking one with the horn.

Thanks Todd. I like the horn ones too. Don't see many gun stocks made from it tho.  :laf: :laf:

Call when you can.

Same here. I like the looks of the black ones better. The tactical stocks
I'd be real curious to see what it would look like with a straight grain wood, like ash or hickory, walnut though.

Or maybe pine. . . . . .    :iroll:

:laf: :laf: @ ^^^^!!  It's that Ruger wood talking Jerry. Don't pay him no never mind.   :nono: :nono:

Uh yeah about that straight grain stuff. I can make you one to look at.   I was shooting for the AAAAA Cooper stock look on these ones. I do have some regular Walnut in the garage I can use. I'm sure they would look very nice. I know not everybody likes the wilder grain patterns in those pens. Now you got me thinking about that.  :doh2:

Nope, definitely not pine :rolleye:

I was just curious, you dont have to make one on my account HaMeR.
I thought the way you knocked the realism of the horn look that you figured you were closer with the spalted walnut look.
And I know I dont get out much but I never seen a spalted walnut stock either....even though I know they DO make them.
I just thought a straighter grain would get it even closer to that "gun stock" look.

None the less I still love my black tactical Ruger stock

I like the looks of the horn alright. It's still purdy cool. I just thought I would take them in a different direction & make them with a traditional gun stock wood like Walnut. And the more figure the better like a fine custom stock.   The pic you posted looks good too. I kinda like the looks of the straighter grain woods on the Gold pens tho. Of course that's just my opinion & I have noooo problem making any combination somebody would want.

Thanks riverboss!! Whenever you're ready just holler!!
