Trot lines (pic heavy)

Lets go run some trot lines

4 lines, 25 hooks each. Didnt do real well. The riverbanks are blanketed with Mayflies right now.
First line came up with what we guessed to be a 15lb flat head on it, and a couple decent channel cats.

There's the beast! My brother says he thinks thats the biggest one hes ever got on a set line before.

Buffalo carp below. Not good for much but they are good smoked.

A whopper of a Sheephead. Not sure why he kept that cause I think they taste horrible. Our grampa used to catch little ones and gramma would fry them up. Those I could tolerate.

A nice little Shovelnose Sturgeon, below. A big no no

He looks heavier then 15 jim. Closer to 18-20 maybe. Use that card for cut bait on your setlines.

My Dad loved to trotline fish in Oklahoma and he was good at it. We moved before I turned 5 and I never lived where it was legal, but grew up on Dad's stories. Looks like some good eating to me and a lot of fun!

I think the flathead is what Dad called a yellow cat, and he claimed those were the best eating of all.

When you pull them out of water rip a gill on each side and they'll bleed out nice.

It looks like it is HaMeR dont it? Im not for sure though and I didnt help clean any of them, I bailed and went casting

Sheephead, also known as croaker, grunt, drum, silver bass, and thunder pumper. Its a junk fish as far as I'm concerned.

I thought it looked that way. But again I've never seen one around here. I'm sure they are in the river here.
