What fun is it there?  No motor boats, planes, cars, terrorists, etc.        Nothing but relaxing music to my ears.

Thats exactly what it was
Thats where my first kayak excursion was Saturday. I was so in my element I didnt even want to fish, I was completely wrapped up in the atmosphere and solitude at first.
I popped a few casts eventually and then decided to run her up on to one of the backwater islands. I caught a few fish in there while walking the island and really had a peaceful relaxing time. 
I got some pics on the phone, I'll post from the phone. It'll be easier then pushing them to the pc and then posting them.

I had a pretty good size dog fish (bow fin) but I can't find the picture now. I am so glad I was not in the kayak when I caught that thing. I'm not sure what I'm going to do if one of them grabs my lure while I'm in the kayak. Holy balls.

Glad to hear you had a great time on your trip. 
I hardly ever take a dip net with me. For those fish I don't want to lip to get into my kayak, like walleye, pike, or maybe a dog fish, I use the Fish Grip Jr. They work great for that.

  I do have one of those on a leash, D ringed right next my seat. But I bought it thinking it would give me more reach to grab a fish from the side. I'm not sure a dog fish will even open it's mouth to allow a guy to use the gripper. But I will be trying when the day comes....or cut my line
Man those things sure tear stuff up comin in. Wooooo!

I caught a dogfish when I was a kid fishing with my parents in Canada.  We didn't know what it was, but quickly learned that if another one was caught to cut the line.  That thing was nasty in more ways than one.

My dad was born and raised along the coast of SC, when he was a kid. He use to tell me that they would eat mudfish (dogfish) and wouldn't touch a catfish when he was a kid. They sort of look like a catfish without the whiskers, but they sure have a bad attitude.
