I too grew up with that song. It hits a little closer to home for me. VERY familiar with it.
My step Dad who raised me for the most part, went by the nick name Country Bumpkin because of that song. I could count on one hand how many of his friends used is actual name during conversations. He was always referred to as Country Bumpkin, or Bumpkin. It was on his bug shield, and it was even his handle on the CB radio.
That man kept me out of more trouble. And I had marks from his belt on may ass many of times.
