Never heard of these things until Friday at work somebody brought it up. I decided to buy one this weekend. Has anyone tried one of these? I am amazed at how well it works.

I put two cheap tenderized round steaks on the unlit grill with the smoke tube tonight for 45 minutes. Then I went out and lit the grill and cooked them for maybe 30 minutes on the lowest setting I possibly could. Left the smoke tube in the whole time.

I cannot believe how well they turned out. And the smoke taste was clear into the meat. I never would have thought this is possible with such a short smoking time.

Never heard of a smoke tube but that steak sure looks good.  Will look it up and see if we are civilized enough to have them out here on land's end.

We use a tin can 😂

I've never used a smoker myself. I always thought it took a Loooooong time to do that.
I was/am impressed at the amount of flavor I got from an hour and 15 minutes.
I'm going to be using this thing some more.

I had maybe an hour left of burn time on it after the steaks were done so I shut off the grill, left the tube in there burning and dropped a couple blocks of Colby Jack in with it. Ohhhhhhh my gawdd  :eyebrow:  was that good.

What flavor of pellets did you use? I have had a smoker that is similar to that for about 10 years and never used it yet.  :doh2:

Jerry, I bought Mesquite.
Think I'm going to get some Hickory next time, to try also.

I use them on my pellet smokers for extra smoke.

They are really handy if you want to cold smoke things like cheese, salts, bourbons....etc.

I have one like that but they do make a box style that last longer.

Never heard of a smoke tube.  I have a small cast iron box that I use for chips if I am grilling on propane.  Cant say that I had smoke all the way through tho.

Ben, maybe the pellets are the difference. I dont know for sure. I've never done this myself.

Tonight I smoked a couple Ribeyes with the pellet tube before grilling them. There are no words to describe the taste. I am so hooked. :eyebrow:  :bowingsmilie:

Yea maybe.  Never used pellets.  Dad got me the cast iron box and a bunch of different compressed wafers for in it.  They burn up quick at grill temps however.  When I run my big smokers I use chunk wood.  We just dropped a bunch of trees to get ready to put a house in and amongst them were wild cherry, wild pear, and a lot of hickory so Im stocked for a bit.

bigben
