Love the snowman and the rest of the pics. I heard that New York City is calling for people to get out their snow shovels to help remove the snow, maybe you can help. You will need two forms of I.D. to be allowed to participate in the removal. Oh, yea, you won't get paid either.

I now stand corrected. I just saw on Liberty that they will get paid. "The position pays $19 an hour — about $2 above the state minimum wage, with some reports citing rates up to $28.71 per hour depending on the classification." I wonder what the classification is for shoveling snow.


"Bring a shovel. And while you're at it, bring two small passport-style photos, two original forms of identification plus photocopies of each, and a Social Security card. All of that, to hold a shovel in the snow. To cast a ballot in a New York election, you need the last four digits of a Social Security number — and only when you first register."

Great pics, especially the girl!

We got snow down to sea level five days ago, and now for the past 24 hours high winds, melting snow and knocking out power in many places around us.

I hunted for cougar tracks for the four days of good tracking snow in our foothills and mountains, my son with me yesterday.  Animals holed up, not moving much, probably anticipating the violent wind. On day two a big bobcat track tempted me to try to call him, but I resisted and kept driving to look for a lion track.

Yesterday we found one small cougar track, many hours old and curiously, another human track had checked it out before us and followed it to where it left the road.  Wind was already screaming, small cat, old track-- we took a nap in the vehicle and then went home instead of trying to call it.
