Bill, I'm sure he we like it. If not, I'm sure someone else will.

Looking at the first 2 failures, it appears you burnt the wood when you drilled it. If you get wood that hot, it will crack. Along with the big catch on the second one. Make sure you back out the bit to help it clear the chips, and always make sure your bit is sharp. With spalted wood, it's weakest around the spalt lines. Alot of times the wood will actually be cracked along the lines and will fracture like the first one did. You learn from every failure. Keep at man. You're doing good.

Just picking Bill.

I am just wondering where that call could be headed.  It would be a shame to send it out of Ohio.   :innocentwhistle:

Just remember, If we can't learn from our mistakes there's no need to try something new. If your customer doesn't like it I'll take it looks good from here.

There's nothing I can't do,I just haven't done it yet.

Bills Custom Calls

Well Thanks GC I believe the customer has seen it and he is chomping at the bit to get his fingers on it

Bill's (old call) and MY (new call) arrived today.  For those of you who can remember Bill's early pictures you know that his abilities with a camera are now much improved (sorry Bill) since he started.   The call that arrived today is much nicer than Bill's picture.

Thanks for a great call,

Jerry

I know that if this one would have broke you would have needed two fifths - one a call and another of something stronger to drink.

Bill, JMO but could the wood be a little green when you turned it? That maybe the reason for it cracking. It looks good and Im not anybody to question ya. I have had green wood crack right in too, thats why I ask.

Bills Custom Calls

I am really sure it happened Because it got a little warm while drilling and while I was turning it tne caught and thats when it broke.I have hade a few pieces crack on me turning this design.
