Heres a little pictorial on skinning out coyote feet for tanning.
First take a knife and cut down through the under side of the foot through the foot pad .

Now you'll be to the toes.

When you get to the toes,I take and cut each bone away from the foot with a wire cutter or you can cut through the joint with a knife. It'll look like this.

Now carefully work each toe bone out or skin it out using a sharp knife or single eadge razor.

Skin each toe down to the laxt knuckle that the claw is attached to and cut the toe bone at that joint and you'll have it completely skinned.

When your done it'll look like this.

Now all thats left is you need to flesh of the foot pads and this can be done by cutting or slicing the grissel off the pad with a sharp razor or knife. Then what I do is salt them heavy  and put the pelt on a stretcher and pin the foot out until it's dry. Then send to Jim to get tanned.

Hope this helps.

blakcoyote has alot of excellent trapping posts that show step by step processes. He has posted alot of them on my site. He has alot of knowledge, be nice to him and he might post em here.

I like his snow trapping pictorials the best. Theyre very informative.

I know Jim.I wear gloves all the time now.Couldn't keep those latex ones from ripping 2 seconds after putting them on.Found out about the nitrile gloves and there the cats...

Use to skin ranch fox by the 100's w/no gloves. But all the disease out there now days you gotta be careful.Hope you liked the coyote skinnin one as well.

How deep is the snow over your way? Pretty high here in Lang.  co.

LOL Cathryn,Jim is pretty good,it's me that usually stirs the pot.  :innocentwhistle:

We've averaged close to a total of 90 inches so far this winter. We have 24 to 30 inches on the ground right now and are expecting another 7 to 12 on Monday.

We need to plan a winter trip one of these times for me to head your way. I could hunt with you and even visit my girls. Speaking of which they got stranded here last weekend until midweek, due to a blizzard.
