Here's my pattern @ 30yds outta Rem870 super mag .660 tight wad choke.  2oz 6 shot Federal copper plated.
Was shooting quite a bit before I picked up the 3 inch to pattern it.  I flinched a little on the shot, pulling slightly left.

I'd have to venture to say that should easily knock a bird down.
