When I was a little kid, my dad used to ship two 55 gallon barrels of turtle meat to Campbell soup every week. He used to catch them with hook and line in the summer, but in the fall he would wade in after them and in the winter he used to dig into old beaver dens for them. I don't think we ever had less than 10 or 15 turtles around. I was cleaning turtles when I was 6 or 7 years old.

did my share of set lining for them and feeling under the under cut banks.
(noodeling) never got bit by a turtle ding that but i will tell you muskrats dont have a sence of humor when you touch them. got bit thru carlessness when handleing them from set lines and he is right they can make a good hole in you.
