reloading the 243 and powder options

ive been reloading with imr 4350 and 4064 and just looking at recipes there is a bunch of other powders to use and with out havin a bench full of powder looking for others pet loads and also rifle brand and barrel length might be helpfull also

I have had good luck with IMR4320.  The load that I am using is from an old manual and is not listed as a MAX load, so I won't post how much I am using, but it works well.  It is NOT the best metering powder.

that still gives me a half doz. different powders for a given bullet wt.

The Sierra manual will give an accuracy and hunting load for the bullets they sell.  Each bullet weight seems to have a different powder that it likes - or at least that is what the manual shows.   With bullet weights from 55 to 107 grains there are some differences.  When you settle on a bullet (or bullets) the data gets you close and you can tweak them from there.  I have had several .243 rifles and they all shot an inch or under with reloads.  One would shoot 1/4 to 1/2 inch groups - dang I miss that gun.      As for a "magic load" that will get the smallest group in every rifle, I just don't think it exists.  My groups will change slightly between hot summer days and cold winter days.  Maybe not  "critter kill" significantly, but bench rest significantly.

I read on another board that Berger is comning out with  new 80gr. 6mm varmint bullets that is super Accurate!  One of our best  loads for my son's Savage model#110 in 243 was a 90gr MEF BT molly Berger bullet over 44grains 0f IMR 4831 , fed brass , rem # 9.5 L/R primers- might be a lil 'warm in what your shooting, work your load up to this !
