The 2nd pic looks like a walnut/maple laminate. It's definitely different looking but in a good way.

Bill I have always been a big fan with woods, with sap wood coloration in them, especially the black/ebony woods and the cocobolo's with the wild sap wood in them.   

I think any deer hunter that is found of custom deer calls and sap wood, will like it.
