Anyone ever use one of these?
They look like they'd be superior to me, if they came with 3 spades instead of those spikes. Especially for the mud and sand in the Mississippi up here.

I love the shaped bar with the ring, which would allow you to reposition the boat and pull from a different area on the anchor, if it would get stuck.
They are insanely expensive, and I'm contemplating welding up my own.

I have used them on other folks boats and I like your idea of the 3 spades.......these things get snagged sometimes and are a real bear to get out....most of the time they are great.
I think three spades would solve a lot of those hard hang ups.
I wonder if you could use those potato plow replacement spades from tractor supply? (For garden tractors ) 
They are inexpensive and heavy.......
They call them a middle buster and usually have just the blades in stock....

I'm thinking with that bar running from the top to the bottom, and the anchor line on the ring which rides up and down the bar, you would be able to move the boat and pull from the top or the bottom of the anchor making removing it easier.

Each end of the bar has a distinct bow in it which would guide the ring to the appropriate pulling position.

Yes and it works great, until you get hung on something between the prongs and the bar......
Been there.....Done that......but if you pull back and fourth a couple of time it will come loose...
but like I said..most of the time it works great.....I just think it costs too much.

The sliding ring only works in calmer water. If you're hung up in river current, the current puts a bow in the line and keeps the slide ring at the top.

Have you had that happen Weedwalker? I'm having a tough time grasping that.

I'm thinking, the stronger the current, the more that thing should lay down, which in turn would put that bar in a further horizontal position, allowing that ring to slide anywhere depending on where you moved the boat to, to pull from.

Jim, My brother had an anchor similar to that. Not the same brand but similar. He could get it loose in lakes and light current. But it's in the Cumberland river now where he had to cut the line. It wouldn't come loose in the heavy current.
It's possible it could've been lodged under a rock or something though.
