Finally got an injector and made some test shots tonight.
The company I got my plastisol from (Bait Junkies) sold me a sample pack, which consisted of three 4-ounce bottles of each of their viscosities. Soft, medium and hard.
I wanted to mold a frog out of each one so that I knew which one I like the best. Things went quite well. I'm very impressed so far.

Im going to need another measuring cup which is what I heat the plastisol in, on the hot plate. For some reason the bait releases from the mold within minutes of being injected. But it stays so hot in that measuring cup for so long that I can't get it out to start another batch. When it cools it just peels right out of the cup. But it's holding it's temperature and smearing and sticking in the cup for too long.

The straight plastisol is like milk white in the container. When you heat it to 350 degrees it turns crystal clear. I didn't waste any coloring in these samples so they're all clear frogs.

Thats pretty dang cool, so u can add color n scent and such!

FinsnFur

Barry!...thats a heckuva idea :alscalls: It never dawned on me. I'm doing it  :laf:

Yah Nasty, you can add glitter, scent, color, whatever you want. I seen a video the other day that showed a guy hand pouring a little white tinted plastisol in the bottom half of a frog mold and let it set up. Then he put the two halves together and injected his regular color. The results...A frog with a white belly. :sneer:

Nottttt the RedFroggggggggggg :innocentwhistle:... I wonder if you melted some powerbait worms into your frog if the Scent n taste would still show up?

It will nasty. When I did the practice meltdown with old torn plastics, some of those in the cup were power baits.
It kept the aroma and passed it into the new plastic but it wasn't as strong. I don't know that that was from recooking it though. I think it was more from the baits were already well used and washed sorta speak. Because they do begin lose that scent just from being used a lot.

When should i put my order in😇😉💰💰💰💰

FinsnFur

Orders need to be placed by midnight 7/31 to receive the early bird free shipping. lol

Well this should conclude the testing and trial runs.
I injected one with the soft plastisol, the medium plastisol and one with hard.
After doing the soft and medium first and realizing how soft they were I decided to add some white to the last one when I used the hard plastisol knowing that that was going to be the go to.
The soft was so soft it felt like you were holding somebody's inards but it was dry. The medium would work good for twister tails or trailers or flukes. But for the Frog I think the hard was the best.

An original factory frog is on right.

Looks good Jim!
I wonder if you could blend up some shade and add it to the pour, then keep it cold till used.
If so that would be cool.

I dont know why not Dan. Nothings really activated until it hits 350 degrees anyway, 300 on remelts. So storing solutions shouldnt be a problem. The problem would be with the fact that the plastisol uncooked is milk white. And it takes approx 1 drop of colorant per ounce to get brilliant shiny colors. It will be farrrr from what you think its going to be when mixing it up at this point, uncooked.
So you would have to make a couple test runs to get a non typical shade, and write down each recipe so that you knew what it took once it revealed itself after you cook it down and shoot it.

Almost forgot, the results are in and the outlook is positive.
I ripped this little bucket mouth from the moss last Saturday afternoon.
It was a pretty tough weekend for fishing. Actually it was the only fish I caught all weekend but it WAS one of my homemade frogs that got er done.

First test, good results. Next! [emoji41]

Just catching up with this thread - very cool, and can't argue with the results.  You need to add some color to something, though. Everything's white right up to your new ride!   :laf:

Glad to see that the frog has passed the test and will now be appearing in stores everywhere.

That's cause Jim is the great white hooter hunter.
Don't bring shame to our sport.

He died for dipshits too.
