:alscalls:  :alscalls: Jerry's undiluted passion for cats continues to shine through :laf:

I thought that was a Maine Coon when I first seen the pic. I would love to have a Maine Coon. They are such a coveted breed, the market is saturated with scammers.

My youngest daughter brought an 8 week old kitten home from the neighbors litter when she was roughly 6 or 7 years old.
With the divorce, their mom's accident, college etc, the cat stayed here.
The day she got her own place I asked, "are you taking that cat with you?"
"No Dad. He's been here his whole life. I could not do that to him, nor take him from you like that"
I said you can take him, he'll adapt. It wont bother me. Or I will charge you child support.
The cat stayed
Not gonna lie...19 years later, (which was last June) watching that cat go through it's final days and finally passing on my kitchen floor, broke me.

It broke me in way that after a couple weeks of pondering, I had to get another one. :doh2:
I drove 4 hour round trip to get this Himalayan cross breed.
Took the trap shooter with me and let her pick it out.
She picked this one....

He is a Maine coon, they act more like a dog than a cat.

Jim, you nailed my feelings on cats. Well, at least the domesticated or feral ones. Mountain lions and bobcats would be the exception to my dislike. Our family did have a cat when I was in elementary school and I actually liked it. Then we got a dog that loved me and I loved it. It died of distemper caused by a cat that roamed the neighborhood. Then a good friend's coon hound died the same way and that was enough to give me a permanent dislike. Then there are the ones that roam the neighborhood, despite a city requirement that property owners keep cats on their property. Their excuse is always that the ones craping in my flower pots are feral and not pets.

I do like the looks of your new cat. There are some, like that one of yours, that really do look nice, but not nice enough for me to want one in my house.

We have no feral cats at my place. The coyotes, foxes, hawks and owls eat them faster than they can multiply ha ha. The great horned owls really put a hurting on them. They like to sit on the church steeples down in the village to get a Birdseye view. I can't even remember the last time I saw a feral cat.

We got those town roamers too Jerry. And it really pisses me off.
Them tearing up my flower bed pisses me off, chasing hummingbirds from my feeders pisses me off, and the fact that locals thinks it's ok to have an actual pet that they leave to the streets pisses me off.
I wont shoot em, but I have live trapped a couple and hauled them away over the years. THAT'S getting hard to do because I dont want skunks in em and I almost got caught carrying a trap with a cat to the truck one morning. :sad3:

Nasty where did you get your Maine Coon?
