Wounded!

"So first thing this morning I hop into the ford ready to do battle, I mean work for the company, my fly rod which is 9 feet long is poking over the front seat, so I hop in and feel a sting in my ear, look in the rear view mirror and have hooked my ear on the fish hook on the end of the pole....

....after a few seconds of reflection to plan my escape, I tugged gently, nope, she's a-holding on...wiggle the hook, no escape, finally I took the old military mantra and put it into effect, " A wrong action is better than no action at all"... and popped the hook out of my ear, along with a chunk of Me, and drove into work holding a hunting glove to my ear to staunch the blood flow...now I kinda know how the fish feels!..."

Ouch! It looks like that hurt.  I once hooked myself in a finger with a small, barbed hook. I couldn't get it out backwards, so I snipped it off below the eye and drove it through with a pair of needle nose pliers. It hurt a bit, but not as much as I expected.

It Did that day

When I was a kid and started fly fishing the only fly I used for the first two years was a muddler minnow. And I got plenty of fish on it.

I was at a public boat ramp one evening and a guy hooked himself in the back of the head with a big green hula popper. He came over and said can you give me a hand with this, I looked at that thing buried in the back of his head, treble hooks everywhere, I said I'm going to cut the line for you then you need to head to the emergency room buddy.

I was fishing with a buddy and hooked myself in back of the shoulder.  Told buddy to cut it out ad when I looked back at him he had my knife and two closed eyes .  I took the knife away and just jerked the little fly out.

I was fly fishing a beaver pond once with a tiny little white dry fly and my younger brother kept getting behind me in the way I told him about five times not to stand behind me.

I started casting one time and I heard him yelp and my fly had got him right in the upper lip and drew blood but it did not hook him. He got the hint and finally moved.
