The 300 Whister is also known as a 300X221 Remington, as the name implys its made by expanding the .224 neck to .308

A 30 round AR mag will hold 29 rounds, a 10 round mag will hold 10 rounds.

300 whisper uppers using Shilen 1-8 twist stainless barrels run in the mid $7's depending on options.

Is the round subsonic?  And where would i come across the ammo?

I just started a new job.  i may be able to pick up the upper in the winter.

Yes it can be subsonic using 220 grain bullets. CorBon was making subsonic ammo last I heard. Its a reloaders cartridge.
