Yep ...I took the range finder and shot my truck from the dead hog. Showed 287 yards.  But you know how rangefinders are. But I'm certain it was between 270 & 290. But like I said it was a lucky shot for me, but not the gun. I know if I miss with this gun...its either me or my loads.....(not the gun). I just love the thing.

Even if it was 270yds that's a heck of an off hand shot.  :eyebrow:

Only done a few in my life time like that.  :innocentwhistle:

AR,
Where did you hold at that range?  Are you sighted in dead on at 200??

Shot off a Bullsbag (Sand bag) under the forearm and another small bag under the butt stock, shooting off the hood of my truck. Yes the gun  is 11/2 high @ 100 .....dead on @ 200 ......about 6 - 8 '' low @ 300. I held (and this is approx)....about  1 foot above his head. Like I said it was a lucky shot.

My longest kill to date was 465 yards a few years back, with a .223 Rem. 700 Varmint gun. Talk about lucky.

However.............I have no doubt about the .223's killing potential at long range with the right bullet and load. On the 465 yard hog there was gut's strung 2 feet behind it. On the AR hog at 290 there wasn't even an exit hole. Never ceases to amaze me how different the very same bullet and load will act at different times and conditions.

Thanks for the info AR.  Good shooting!
