Well I brought the brush hog home and did some welding on it...... But when I took it back out to the farm for a try I had no one to help. So I did what I always do and did it my self....... :iroll:
Long story short....... I wound up getting hurt.......
(The long story) The brush hog slipped off a ramp I was using to get it out of the truck and I caught it. It was all I could do to hold it till we reached the ground.
When we arrived at the ground I had no choice but to leave part of it sitting on my waste line as I knew something was Bad wrong in my back...... most of the weight was still on the truck but I was almost an hour getting it off me.
I was another hour trying to get in the truck to go for help......
Doc says I have a bulging disk pinching a nerve affecting my left leg......... I am taking three pain meds and WOW they are awesome.......
They cut my pants off when I got there so I feel they owe me a pair of pants...... :laf: :laf: But we will see how I feel about that when am done with the meds.
I could use a few prayers fellas as I may miss bow season...... and if I do that...... I know I am hurt...... :pout:
Prayers for a speedy recovery are on the way.
Jerry
That isn't a good story :pout:.. Hope you get better quick but take all the time you need and don't do it again :readthis:.
Prayers sent....
May the lord grant you a speedy and full recovery...
Man that sucks Al! Prayers sent.
Sorry to hear the bad news, Al.
Hang in there.
been there and done it Al. We know better but we do stupid stuff anyway :rolleye: You will miss bow season for sure. But there is always gun season with good helpers to haul the deer for you. Evidently they didn't give you the really good stuff :nono: Otherwise you would only be getting up for bodily functions :laf: You wouldn't be able to even operate a key board
Take good care of yourself, seriously. You don't want surgery if you can help it. I have known only two people who have had surgeries that were sucsesful out of dozens. Most of them have had multiple surgeries before they even get relief, much less able to do anything. Jimmie

Sorry to hear about your accident, Al. I pray for your speedy and full recovery.

Sounds like a boneheaded thing I'd do myself Al. Take it easy and heal up proper.
Ok, hang on a sec here. They cut off your pants and WHAT bulged? :puke:
Thats just wrong.
Get the hottub filled up and relax a bit
Good Grief Al, We will be praying for your recovery, take it easy. cc
Be careful with the pain meds. After a few years of being on them, I road the devil himself coming off them in June. Four days of all kinds of unpleasantness.
Codeine is VERY addictive. :innocentwhistle:
We'll do Al, take care of yourself.
:doh2: Oh SNAP Al ! Glad you're OK, more or less, as that could have ended much worse. Take time to let that heal right or you'll never be 100%. Prayers heading out !
Hope you heal up quick Al. When I read the title I was afraid you cut off a limb . :whew: :whew: :whew:
... Ok... I am guessing here (hope I'm not off base?) is Brush hog yankee for bush hog? :laf:
Sorry to hear that Al. I'll be praying for you, hope you feel better soon.
Pat
Crap Al, you gotta remember you/we arent as young as we used to be. Hope ya heal up well buddy. Cant imagine being trapped in the house this time of year.

I typed Bush hog..... and my wife said you guys would make fun of me...... :laf: :laf:
2 - 750mg Robaxin every 12 hrs. and 1 - 5-325mg Percocet every 6 hrs.
Doc says this could take a while...... he said it wont take much more on that nerve to make me loose the use of my left leg or both.... my left leg is kinda numb right now but he says as long as I am still feeling pain in it..... its a good thing.....
Sat. will be the first time I think I have ever missed the bow opener.......
They wanted me to go get a pain blocker shot but I cant afford that...... So we will see....
The Doc. is calling me everyday to check on my progress or lack of......

Neither you nor your wife have any health insurance of any kind what so ever, and your not entitled to any state or federal assistance of any kind, you own land which has got to have taxes paid on it, your in the process of building a hunting cabin.

:laf: Now that there is funny! It seems like this is a bad time of year for you Al, last year you turned that wood that messed you up. :rolleye: We're going to have start putting a guard around you each fall. Hoping for a quick recovery bud. :yoyo:
Hate to hear about your accident, hope you heal fast bud.
Jeb
One percocet 5mg per day is some pretty low dose pain killers. You won't have to worry about becoming addicted to that. The other pain killers are non-narcotic.
prayers sent Al. for your quick recovery, seems like the painblocker would let u push to hard and lose the loss of the leg may be a blessing in disguise. Hope all turns well for ya.

Dang it Al! :madd: WTHB (what the "L" boy)
Prays sent, but be careful will ya.
Sorry to hear of your accident Al. Hope all goes well for ya and your up and around soon.
Al, just checking in to see how things are going for you? I hope it's not as serious as it sounds. Do you think the damage was done by you straining to hold it up on the truck and maybe a disc herneiated? Or do you think something else happened as it came down on top of you?
Are you taking any anti-inflamatorys? I had a few blown discs and IB profin was a main part of my diet. It sort of shrunk the inflamation in the disc area relieving the pressure on the nerve. Also, heat on it is bad (shower/hot tub/heating pad) as it heats it all up and tends to inflame the disc area, pushing the herniation against the nerve. Ice is good.
Well I wish you the best, and please give us all some updates, as I'm sure I'm not the only one concerned.
Dave
Praying for ya bud. Hope you get to feeling better soon. I have had pinched nerves and bulging disks myself. Recovery is very attainable. May take you a while to get bck up to snuff but you will get there. Take it easy and follow doctors orders for a quick recovery.
Huntinbull
Sorry to hear about your accident Al, I sure hope you recover quickly. Man I can't imagine missing bow season. Robert

Right now my friends are all out bow hunting the season opener........ and I am at home taking more pills....... and it sucks but I just cant go...... So yea it hurts...... I have two bulging disks one of which is pinching the sciatic nerve.....Causing numbness and much pain in my left leg.
Next week I start traction therapy and if it dont work...... surgery to remove the disk that is on the nerve.
I knew right away as soon as I caught the mower...... Something was bad wrong in my back...... But if I had not hung on to it....It coulda been much worse than it is.... The numbness in my leg is moving around so they say its healing....
I am gonna try and go Turkey hunting on the 23rd as it should not involve too much walking and my friends will skin it for me.
But the cabin is on hold for a bit and may not get done for a time....
My 4 wheeler has a flat and I gave my BIL the keys to go fix that for me as I just cant do CRAP right now... and I want them fellas to use my bikes to haul their gear/Deer with.
I am taking anti-inflammatory as well as pain meds. But I must say the stuff they gave me at the hospital while cutting my pants off was much better...... :eyebrownod:
Golfertrout (Dave) AKA bellyboat Butt..... Called me to go Coyote hunting but...... :pout: I cant do that either....

he makes me laugh.
i saw him the other day at the thrift store.
Nix on the turkey trip Al. :rolleye:
You should try it moving from leg to leg. Or even better is breathing hurts like L. That is nothing to mess with. I have had it happen three times so far and am still living without scar's . BIL was not lucky with the new surgical technique either. He had a second to take care of what that one didn't do. Just got his disability and can't do squat but wash dishes and make the beds.
So take it easy and take care of your self. After about ten days start a walkign regimen. Start out easy and add a few dozen feet or so a day. That along with therapy kept me off the operating table so far. I still try to walk the place each day if time and family allow. Jimmie
What gets me is the Good Lord gave us two or more of most everything, but not two backbones. :wo:
Sorry Jimmie......... Turkey hunting is my second favorite thing to do....... :eyebrownod:
But this year I will ride to the top of the ridge on the 4 wheeler.....then walk a bit to stand.... I usually walk the whole time........ and I wont overdo..
Hell I still aint sure I can....... But I am going NUTS just laying here all day for seven days........It starts Sat. so I got some time yet to heal some more...... my pain meds will run out soon and I am gonna try and due without them after that.......I hope.
I wrote one song and drew up a bunch of call ideas...... BUT I gotta get out of here!!!!!!!!
That was why I took up wood carving :laf: Made the wife ill with the wood shavings but at least I DIDN'T GO STIR CRAZY :innocentwhistle:
I agree with you about the pain meds. Get off them as soon as possible. But don't be afraid to use them when nescescary either. Jimmie
