The FnF Spring 2011 Biggest Wild Turkey Contest

This year the contests will run from: April 7 through midnight June 1, 2011 (Eastern time).

We’re going to run two categories, one for the biggest Turkey and another for the best photographed “Hero Shot”.

THIS THREAD IS FOR POSTING BIGGEST TURKEY ONLY

****************
Biggest Turkey Contest

TO ENTER:
1:  Participants can be any age but all must be of at least Reg. Member status to be eligible to enter the contests or to vote. That means 25 posts under your belt.

2:  All submitted photos must have something in the picture that says Fins and Fur and the date taken. Write it on your shirt, your forehead, write it in the dirt, on a piece of paper...it doesn't matter but it must be in the picture.

3: This contest will be judged by beard length and spur length only (if you shoot a tiny turkey with a 40" beard... most likely you’re going to win).

4: You will need to photograph the beard with a ruler or tape measure, and the same with the spurs. The actual measurement must be easily distinguishable in the pictures, showing the entire beard in at least one picture with the ruler or tape measure.

5: Add the total measurements together (of each spur and the beard(s), include it in your post. The highest accumulated inches will be the winner.

6: In such a case your turkey has more than one beard, both beards can be included.

7: Remember to enter you must make a post in this thread with a picture(s) and your total accumulated inches.

Enter only one contest, the same person/turkey can not win both contests, but how's this to help keep up interest....
Since size does count for the biggest turkey contest only
If you enter early and later on kill a bigger bird you will be allowed to update your original entry post. Contact me (or any of the other staff) by pm. We will gladly edit your entry with the bigger turkey. You must contact us before the end of the contest, midnight (eastern DST) on June 1, 2010.
In other words a person can enter only once in this contest, but you can update your post as many times as you wish. Contest edits cannot be added except by the staff. Please get any updates to us ASAP and we will try our best to accommodate but due to our busy schedules we cannot be held responsible for your last minute updates.  Any past due entries or updates will be voided.

-------------------------------------------------------

The 1st place winner of this category will receive $100.00 USD.

Again this year we will also have a prize for the second largest turkey.

Our very own bambam has generously donated one of his custom made knives (with real coyote jaw handle) to be given for the 2nd largest turkey.
Here is a picture and description of the knife:” It is a coyote jaw knife, about 8 inches overall. Handmade blade cut from a circular saw blade.”

A special thanks to all that donated for the contests and those that entered … thank you for your participation.
Have fun and good hunting from FnF.

Ok guys here we go! Check out the full story and the other pics in Birds - One in the Morning Sun! Good luck to all!

10 3/4" beard plus 2 hairs that ran past 11" but I don't really count those.
1 3/16" spurs both sides! That comes out to 13 1/8" by my math.
Take your kids hunting and you won't have to hunt your kids!

kyfuzzyface, nice bird.

The best I can tell from the photo it looks like: Beard=10", 1st spur=1", 2nd spur=1&1/8", for a total score of 12 & 1/8".
If this is not correct please post your total inches of your turkeys beard and both spurs.

Thanks,
Chet
