In Code's neck of the woods it almost has to be be a grouse, either blue, ruffed or maybe a spruce.  Way too wet for chukars there.  They live on the dry desert side of WA.  How big was it?

When I went out today I saw 2 grey squirrels running around. It didn't cross my mind that it might be a grey squirrel cause all we are supposed to have here are red squirrels. It Still may be a grouse but my guess is squirrel.
