Title: Homemade target stand
Post by: HaMeR on March 21, 2011, 07:37:44 AM
I slid a 3/8" all thread rod inside a 1/2" steel pipe. Then I slid that inside the 3/4" PVC pipe. I used black iron tees & nipples to fashion the foot pegs. The PVC is all screwed together with zip screws for when somebody decides to shoot that instead of the target. The all thread & steel tubing is epoxied together. The plastic type cardboard is zip tied to the PVC frame. The backboard will hold two 8x11 five dot targets side by side with plenty of room around the edges to NOT hit the PVC. In theory anyhow.  :laf:  :laf:

I have heard that some guys find their target stands sprouting from yards at night.     :innocentwhistle:

I have a couple of these that I actually got from a realtor when they started to rust.  Seems he thought it would be easier to buy new than wire brush and repaint them.  Worked for me.  Since I take some shooters out who are not always hitting the target and have been known to shoot the frame, they might survive longer than PVC tubes.

That being said, HaMeR's plans for $49.99 would be a great way for HaMeR to get some reloading components or even a new rifle if he sells enough of the plans.

Maybe HaMeR could auction a set of plans to help fund the new FnF chat. I know I'd bid.

Thanks for the link Chet.

Just go around after election time and pull up the metal wire framed signs that the candidates leave all over the place.  They work great for target stands and are even cheaper than $49.95!   Plus you are helping to clean up our highways!!  You can use those little squeeze clips to hold your target on the stand!
