I always say my funnest gun is my Crosman 1377 air pistol which is .177 caliber. They used to make it in .22 calber many years ago but the only way to get one in the past was to either find an old one or modify a new 1377...FINALLY Crosman listened and brought the .22 back!!..these are classic Americana!

And they are selling for about half the MSRP.
I'm not sure but I think my step father had one of those. He had one that looked awful dang close to it if not.
I can remember pumping that thing 10 times, (and it took everything I had to get it to 10) and shooting beer bottles down at the dump with it. I was so impressed that it broke them. :laf:
I bought a Gamo V5 for knocking squirrels off the bird feeder, for a little over a hundred bucks and ended up giving it to my daughter after I realized it wasnt going to put a squirrel down. :iroll:
I see according to their site, they are coming out with some Noslers® for it. :sneer:
I'm kinda glad you posted this...I'm going to do some shopping around for price, and I'm thinking I'm going to own one of these before the night is over.
The neighbors are complaining about me hanging out the window with the Marlin 22LR
I used to have one of those in 22... heck I may still have it somewhere.. brought back some memories for sure!
They are a blast to shoot and plink with especially with ammo prices these days..and if you like to tinker there is an endless amount of modifications you can do to them, fancy grips, shoulder stocks, optics, soup up the internals,:

Like a laser? :eyebrow:
I'm looking for a laser right now. I can believe how cheap they are selling the gun for.
Cant...I cant believe :doh2:
You will be pretty happy with the accuracy with open sights or optics for sure...read some reviews, very, very few issues. I'm thinking of throwing a steel breech on the .22 model and then one of these:
http://www.pyramydair.com/product-all-reviews/a/Crosman_Williams_Rear_Sight_Notched_Blade_Elevation_Windage_Adj_3_8_Mount/2008
Wow...I was just reading that site myself. They seem to be selling it for less then anyone right now.
I'd like to have a laser because with some of the positions I have to get into to be concealed or minimize movement when shooting out of the bedroom window doesnt allow me to look down the barrel and use the sights.
I cant believe I posted that. Makes me sound like some kind of serial killer :doh2:
If your near a Walmart they sell em and u might be able to use ship to store and not pay any shipping !
I axed about hunting with a laser here in NH and they told me it was illegal cause you would be illuminating or lighting an animal with a laser/light, even if it was in broad daylight !
Id like to try one out though, never have.
Really
We got a Supercenter a few miles away.
By the way...what mounts are you using on your 1377 up there? Those dont look like the 459mt's.
And wouldnt you know it :doh2: Walmarts site is broke right now :iroll:
If you get a steel breech, like on the one I have on mine, then you can mount any kind of optic onto the gun using rim fire rings...I use high see through mounts cuz I wanna put a rear sight on so I can use it with scope or open sights at the same time.
http://www.crosman.com/gear/custom/2240SBPK
Ahhhhhhh, the standard breech requires the 459MT mounts

Will chime in to say that I've had the .17 caliber version for years, used only with open sights mostly for grouse, and it is super accurate. I did extensive testing for accuracy from a rest and learned that mine is most accurate with 7 pumps. It is almost as accurate with nine pumps and that is mostly how I shoot it. It kills grouse as quick as a .22 rimfire if you hit them in the head or neck spine. Mine puts five shot groups into a hole under 3/8 inch at 25 feet from a rest. When I first got it I shot it a LOT, and could pretty consistently cut dandelion stems at 20 feet or so. Fun to take along to family picnics, fishing, etc. besides carrying in the woods for grouse when hunting big game.
I use mine when I am hunting on stand and those damn squirrels gather and start chattering at you...I slip out the 1377, pop, silence... :eyebrow:
Just finishing ordering the 1322 from Amazon / $54.95
I just got confirmation from wally-world that mine shipped...the female unit said geez boys never grow up when it comes to their toys ha-ha! :yoyo:
I was gonna order through Wally World but Amazon was cheaper via pyramydair.com
Especially since I ordered the mounts, CenterPoint laser, oil and ammo and it all comes from pyramydair.com also.
When you get it, give us/me a report on the quality of new ones. Mine has a HORRIBLE trigger: long, scratchy uneven pull, with a burr about 3/4 of the way through that pulls tight and then jumps past. Took some learning to get to where I could shoot it offhand, but now the hard pull resistance at the burr on some part of the trigger mechanism is my warning as to how close I am to breaking the sear for the shot. :laf:
Can't believe how old mine is, but it still shot last year. Bought mine for $28 (? or less) at White Elephant on Divison Street in Spokane a year or so after Mt. St. Helens blew. My older son was with me that summer day and we also bought a big box of Bing cherries. We ate cherries as we drove back roads west and took turns shooting the new pellet pistol out the window to kick up dust in the layer of volcanic ash powder, or see the pellet splash on farm ponds and lakes.
If Code reads this, ask your Dad about that trip!

Good shooting! IME, squirrels are a LOT harder to kill than grouse.
On calling stands for predators, I like to have squirrels, crows, magpies etc. around. I don't stay long enough for them to annoy me and I like the realism and the way they tip me off when a predator is on the way. They pick up on incoming critters way better than I do. I don't use stands for deer but for some reason don't like squirrels chattering at me when deer hunting or stopping for a bit to rattle! :wo: Inconsistent??

Ill be real interested in seeing how that laser works out!..also for any air gun you want to use Pell oil or 2nd choice, 30 weight NON-DETERGENT oil...regular oil will often ruin the seals in the gun.
My cousin Joe-Don-Leroy told me this, not sure if its true though:
"So I was out there all alone in the woods, me and my Crosman American Classic 1377,
A giant bear came up behind me and swiped my gun away while he ripped off my shirt I CRAWLED to my Crosman American Classic and aimed it at it's heart. He had eaten my right arm by now, so I shot it one handed (The recoil almost broke my arm) and sure enough, the bear flew backwards 10 feet into a tree and snapped it in half, luckily killing it. So yeah, I advise getting this pellet gun. so worth it."
Oh there is NO doubt in my mind that story is true, Nasty :eyebrownod:
According to Amazon...everything should be here on or before the 5th :eyebrow:
Ok, ya bastages, ya got me looking at these things too. :madd:

She will look good along side the Super Comanche!...I like the .22 is black also, I would suggest 1 in each caliber!...the .22 is slower with more weight but the .177 is faster with a flatter trajectory.
Yes, you may. Not a lot of calls being offered up these days so I need to subsidize.
And the black one will be camo'ed when I'm done with it. Maybe in snow camo. :innocentwhistle:
OH HELL YEAH :yoyo:

Well....the good stuff came today :innocentwhistle:
No Gun?
No apparently Amazon had this stuff there so they broke it into two shipments. The gun, the laser, and the ammo is coming from Pyramyd Air.
Which kinda ticks me off cause they are saying a delivery date of the 9th and I paid for 3 day freight. :argh:

Mine has a HORRIBLE trigger:
If you are a do it yourself kind of person: http://www.network54.com/Realm/CFTech/BioTrgTun.htm
You can also just pop the trigger spring out and compress it a few times, worked great on mine:
"Trigger pull was fairly heavy at first but I did a little trigger spring compression and it's very nice and smooth now."
I seen an article last night where a guy says he took the trigger spring out and went to ACE and got a replacement. He got the same diameter spring, but bought one made out of thinner wire, then just trimmed it to length. They got those little trays cabinets with every size spring in the world, and a few from other worlds.
I might see her today. Latest tracking says it landed in Dubuque 15 minutes ago.
Thats only an hour from here. :jump:
Took a road trip to Cabelas this morning and when I came home I saw this...

Ok...I got a chance to thrash through it and play a little bit.

The cat found the box...so he stayed out of my hair while I played :laf:
The laser came with a Weaver mount and a Dovetail mount which was cool. But what I dont like right off the bat is having to use the mount adapters in order to use the rings. The laser sets way to high. Granted the steel breech option would have eliminated that, but I think they could have gotten away with a lot less height then they did here.
If I had the equipment I'd machine out a new pair and shorten them up a good 1/4 inch.
The laser came with a pressure switch and a push button. User's choice which was cool. One is a cap with the button and one is a cap with the cord and switch. Pop in the batteries and screw on the cap you want to use.
I wont use the pressure switch. Seems like more hassle then it's worth on this type of gun. The on off button will be fine.

Havent had a chance to shoot it much or site in the laser. It's so freegin hot in the shop I dont know if I could stand it long enough.
Plus the girls are driving in any minute now for the weekend, and we are heading straight for the BEACH!
I just got mine today too!...def like the black grips..haven't done anything yet but I am thinking for now I might just leave it stock.
http://www.crosman-air-pistol-owners-forum.com/board/index.php
Thats pretty funny...that such a place would draw such a following. :eyebrownod:
I like how he named every forum on the board beginning with "crosman air pistols"..therefore placing him on the front page of any Google search for those terms. Which you KNOW gets searched.
I'm guessing you found the forum the same way. :eyebrownod:
I'm ready to find some prey, got the laser zeroed in.
I cant believe the thing will go through an aluminum bottle like this. These things are heavy duty. It's tough to even dent them.
Entry holes 15 yards.

Kids and their toys ey?
What's the FPS on that thing?
Boyz and their toyz!
Jim,
I assume you "killed" the Bud Light before you shot it.
Jerry
Looks ready for some live targets!...how did the laser sight in for you?
Advertised FPS is only 460. The video reviews for this thing show a definite increase over initial break in. Obviously it peaks out, and I'm assuming at the advertised 460 but they dont show that, and I haven't experienced it...yet.
I dont know if thats typical or not I haven't owned or used enough airguns to know.
Jerry, the Budlights were definitely killed ahead of time, but bear in mind they were not penned up. It was all fair chase
The laser sighted in great. I started at point blank and moved back at 5 foot intervals until I got to 35 feet, adjusting it a little each time. Once I got the windage set which was within the first two sets...the rest obviously was all up or down as I moved back.
The thing is a dead on tack driver even out to 45 feet so far. Haven't gone much further.
But I did learn something interesting on the net about these guns. And if it's old news to anyone reading it...well then just bear with me.
But I didnt realize that air gun manufacturers tip their barrels up during manufacturing and assembly to accommodate for immediate bullet drop. That essentially gives you two points of contact or two zeroed in points through the trajectory when sighting in. One is achieved during the rise and it actually passes through zero again as the projectile falls.
Old News?? Well not for me  But very interesting.
Here's the daughter plinking some more aluminum. She thinks she missed here, but in reality the pellet passed clean through again and never rocked anything enough to send them tumbling. (the background noise is the compressor kicking in out in the shop :doh2: )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fB7cZoefxp0
Next shot she got them to tumbling, thought she was cool, and then got embarrassed
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7I_NZM9k0w
Jim,
That is great that your daughter can enjoy shooting right at home.
Jerry
Fun videos! Does your shed door/wall have any new holes in it?
How is the trigger pull on the new Crosman? Length of pull, weight of pull, consistency of pull throughout, etc.?
WTHH!...I wear that exact same orange head band when I am hunting for safety! :innocentwhistle:...damn Jimbo now because of your report I am going to have to start looking into a laser for my gun...sigh...it never ends....
No holes in the shop door Okanagan :nono:
Theres a half a dozen pellet size dents down there though :eyebrownod:
Trigger?
I love the trigger. I see that someone was whining on Crosman's site about the trigger pull, but I really dont think it's that bad. There is SO little travel in the trigger that it's a breeze to manage, and I dont have anything to check trigger pull. If I had to guess, I would say 3...maybe 4 pounds. Judging by my 22-250 Timney trigger which is set at 1/4 lb.
Made a little clip to show you the travel.
http://youtu.be/j3XlMmGoAyg
I'm having wayyyyyyyy to much fun with this gizmo :alscalls:
Jim, Thank you! That trigger is waaaay better than my old one, far less travel and much lighter.
Love the egg shot!
Have fun. It is a fun toy. When I first got mine I shot it several times a day, took it on every outing, figuring out different things to try it out on. Killed a HUGE barn rat with it that got in my my garage one time, and an even bigger pack rat that was gnawing on our packs when we camped overnight at a Forest Service shelter (half log cabin with open side they used to build in national forests.)
Pretty cool egg clip ...I was shooting both of mine 2nite at clods of dirt in the corn field.
You didnt video it for us, like the egg shoot?
Hey were you wearing your safety head band though?
What do you think of yours so far?
Jim,
Really great video of the egg. It really cracked me up. (pun intended)

I like mine, seems to work as well as the .177 caliber, I hope to get it out this weekend and really give er a sight in.
Hey Jimbo what was the make/model of your laser?
Mine is the Centerpoint Quick Acquisition Laser.

And you'll need these to mount it.
