I am not much good at knowing the different snakes but I am thinking this one is a common rat snake

When Chris opened the door to our shed he was there to greet her :rolleye:
I told her I didn't think it was poisonous but she decided she didn't need anything out of the shed after all :laf:
You can tell Chris that I wouldn't have needed anything out of the shed neither and you wouldn't have a shed now as I'd have burnt it down to get rid of that thing :puke:
You are correct Bill........... Black rat snake......Sometimes you can find em in red and yellow too.........Black is most common.
I have been bitten by these.....and it hurts like hell but not poisonous at all....I still had to get a tetanus shot... :madd:
I only got bit cause I was messing with it......I used to catch them for science teachers and such.
They do eat a lot of mice and things......but they also love bird eggs when they can find them.
I'm with Barry.
I'd have burned the shed to the ground to get rid of him.....his body actually....his shot up body.... :eyebrownod:
you killed him, right?
from the looks of him he just finished a pretty good meal, imo.
:nono: This snake is still very much alive
And he seems to be eating very well,if I would have seen him in the yard where I could have easy access to him he probably would have been dead.
When you shoot them from about 3 yards with the 12 gauge they fly a far piece :laf:

That wouldnt stop me. In fact I'd lean forward a bit and close that 3 yard gap a mite :eyebrownod:

They ain't good even then :laf:
I know what all I woulda done to it but I'm sure bandwidth is expensive.
I can't figure why people are afraid of a non-poisonous snake.
They can't kick ya. Can't claw ya. Why, I'd rather grab a NP snake than a grinny. All the snakes I've handled never hurt me as bad as the time I go a hold of a grinny ... er should I say ... he got a hold of me! :shck:
Besides they're such good mousers! ;yes; Better than having a daym cat around. :rolleye:
Bill and I had to go after a snake his wife saw in the driveway once during turkey season........ :laf: I started to hand Bill my gun and go get the snake and Bill was Like.....Uh what are ya doing? I am gonna shoot it.
I was Like Oh OK I was just going to take it away some where else...... :laf: :laf:
Either way I am fine with it ......where there is one there is more I know that...... :eyebrownod:
I dont keep the poisonous ones around anymore... :nono: I do not see any need for them.
I let the black ones go unless they try to stay inside with me(Tent/Camper/Building).....then they gotta go!
Once they claim home they seem to keep coming back...
Yes Al if you remember that was what you called a brown snake and I ain't never seen one of them before and didn't care if I ever see another one.
Black,Rat,and Gardener snakes are plenty for me :laf:
Okay now you guys have me wondering where I can go down south :wo: Who doesn't have any of them legless freaks of nature? Ohio is now on my no fly zone :whew:
Barry......it is rare to see any snake in Ohio or WV during the winter months....And ya can hunt! :eyebrownod:
Besides a good old WV timber rattler tastes pretty good. :laf:

Rare and non existant are two entirely different things Al :holdon: Looks like WV is on the same page as Ohio now :whew:
I've got a couple of rat snakes that hang around the house. Not only are they great mousers but they also help keep door to door salesmen away. :laf:
Being great climbers, ya' never know where they will turn up.

Idf nevert go inside that house again if i lived there.
where one can get others can too.
:laf: Cathryn, they are completely harmless creatures... that is unless you're a mouse. :eyebrow:
I hate snakes....
Coyotehunter1 is our snake guy when we go hunting. I hate the things, so I let Chet take care of them. :eyebrownod:
I been married so long I aint scared of nothin............. :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

A friendly word of advise... Never walk directly behind anyone that "hates" snakes. There's a very high probability that, should they unexpectedly have a reptile encounter, you'll get run over. :roflmao:
Reptile dysfunction   :laf:
:roflmao: :roflmao:
I know what your referring to Chet. Let's keep it between us. :laf: :eyebrownod:
Reptile Dysfunction........ :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: You crack me up partner.
Sissy.............. :innocentwhistle:
Can't argue with that when it comes to Mr. Noshoulders.......... :nono:
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
I know just what to bring ya if I can make LBL this year...... :eyebrownod:
That will be one cold snake on the first weekend of February. :innocentwhistle:

She has......... :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
I knew it!! Me , Vic, and Chet are the only ones with good sense on this board. Why buy rat traps when nature provides them. All ya gotta do is give them a bit of room and they will move on.
And Chet, I know all about them folks with reptile disfunction. Feller didn't even see the cottonmouth. I just told him to watch out for it while he got his fishing arrow back . He was laying down over te bow of the boat, and next thing I knew I had to peel him off my ears. I fon't mind given piggy back rides to youngin's , but a grown man is rediculous . I aint shure but I don't think he touched any part of that 14 foot boat from the front deck to riding my back. Needless to say I kept him shooting along clear banks the rest of the day. I don't mind jumping out of a boat but odds were pretty good he would have nocked me out of it if he saw a snake of any kind. Jimmie
In my early years I used to kill snakes when ever I bumped in to them. Now I just move on and they move on. I even try to avoid hitting them on the road. There's a black snake that hangs out around my shed. I see him every once in a while. I've found his old skin so I think he's still around.
im getting soft in my old age( not tween the ears either Al, ya smartazz :iroll: )
i saw a huge black snake today probably near 5 ft long. it was crossing the rod. i stopped beside it, looked at it, and debated on backing up and running it over BUT i let it go, mainly because it was a couple miles from the house.
i dont know what a snakes range is but hopefully it int that far cause if i see him round here hes a goner, lol
I think I woulda backed up and run him over. :innocentwhistle:
...and then got him again after going back the direction I was originally heading.
...and then backup up one more time for assurance.
And then since I'm going the other way again anyway....... :eyebrownod:
