Bills Custom Calls

I am not much good at knowing the different snakes but I am thinking this one is a common rat snake

When Chris opened the door to our shed he was there to greet her  :rolleye:
I told her I didn't think it was poisonous but she decided she didn't need anything out of the shed after all  :laf:

You can tell Chris that I wouldn't have needed anything out of the shed neither and you wouldn't have a shed now as I'd have burnt it down to get rid of that thing :puke:
I say what I think not think what I say.

You are correct Bill........... Black rat snake......Sometimes you can find em in red and yellow too.........Black is most common.
I have been bitten by these.....and it hurts like hell but not poisonous at all....I still had to get a tetanus shot... :madd:
I only got bit cause I was messing with it......I used to catch them for science teachers and such.
They do eat a lot of mice and things......but they also love bird eggs when they can find them.

I'm with Barry.
I'd have burned the shed to the ground to get rid of him.....his body actually....his shot up body....  :eyebrownod:

:nono: This snake is still very much alive
And he seems to be eating very well,if I would have seen him in the yard where I could have easy access to him he probably would have been dead.
When you shoot them from about 3 yards with the 12 gauge they fly a far piece  :laf:

That wouldnt stop me. In fact I'd lean forward a bit and close that 3 yard gap a mite :eyebrownod:

I can't figure why people are afraid of a non-poisonous snake.
They can't kick ya. Can't claw ya.  Why, I'd rather grab a NP snake than a grinny.  All the snakes I've handled never hurt me as bad as the time I go a hold of a grinny ... er should I say ... he got a hold of me! :shck:

Besides they're such good mousers!  ;yes;   Better than having a daym cat around. :rolleye:

Bill and I had to go after a snake his wife saw in the driveway once during turkey season........ :laf: I started to hand Bill my gun and go get the snake and Bill was Like.....Uh what are ya doing? I am gonna shoot it.
I was Like Oh OK I was just going to take it away some where else...... :laf: :laf:
Either way I am fine with it ......where there is one there is more I know that...... :eyebrownod:
I dont keep the poisonous ones around anymore... :nono: I do not see any need for them.
I let the black ones go unless they try to stay inside with me(Tent/Camper/Building).....then they gotta go!
Once they claim home they seem to keep coming back...

Okay now you guys have me wondering where I can go down south :wo:  Who doesn't have any of them legless freaks of nature?  Ohio is now on my no fly zone :whew:

Barry......it is rare to see any snake in Ohio or WV during the winter months....And ya can hunt!  :eyebrownod:
Besides a good old WV timber rattler tastes pretty good.   :laf:

Rare and non existant are two entirely different things Al :holdon:  Looks like WV is on the same page as Ohio now :whew:

I've got a couple of rat snakes that hang around the house. Not only are they great mousers but they also help keep door to door salesmen away.    :laf:

Being great climbers, ya' never know where they will turn up.

:laf: Cathryn, they are completely harmless creatures... that is unless you're a mouse.   :eyebrow:
