Looks like yote tracks to me

Looks like the yotes are feasting on birds  [feather quills?]

   And these are my scouts

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Coyote tracks definately. Note how the back of the track is more rounded instead of almost flat across the bottom. More oval in shape. And due to the sharpness of the ridges , they had not been there very long before you found them. They would be a good set to watch for aging.

The scats are hard to tell anything about without taking them apart. I like to take a stick and spread them around a bit when they are that fresh. Makes it easier to see if I am looking at tiny broken bones, feather quills etc. From the green strands and th way the pieces look I would say birds are possible. Bone fragments are fairly large for small critters but I don't see the hair I normally ascociate with field rats.

I had a pair of scouts like that once. Daughter knew every animal around just by it's track. But they both grew up on me and decided boys and girls were more fun. Great looking Kids. Jimmie
