Well another night shot.  :doh2:  Not near as big a deal as some of the things posted here lately, but just thought I'd share my good fortune with ya'll anyways. About a week and a half ago, on Friday morning I crawled out of bed and made about two steps towards the bathroom, and, squish, squish,,,, there's something about the feeling of wet carpet on your bare feet when you're barely awake, you just know it ain't good.  :nono:  A couple days before that our water guy came and "fixed" our water softener that evidently hadn't been working in awhile. Well it went through it's cycle, and spewed it's guts ( little beads like sand ) into the drain and plugged the drain and ran water over about a fourth of our bedroom, the bathroom, and furnace/junk room. That was fun, suckin up water and cleanin carpet.  :nono:
A little while ago my son came upstairs and said, "is there supposed to be water in the storage room?"   :doh2: So I go down stairs and it appears my water heater is takin a dump.  :argh:  It looks like water is comin from underneath somewhere, and when I feel the side of it, it's barely warm until about a foot from the bottom where it's too hot to even touch.  There's probably another $500.00 () or so I wasn't plannin on.
Oh well, could be worse, life goes on.

Sorry to hear of your troubles but I really had to chuckle :laf: :laf:  My daughter Mandy was bitching[female thing] about the roof on her house so I'm putting tin on it yesterday and when we went in for a break there was no hot water.  The damb tank had ruptured and flooded the basement.  I spent this morning tearing apart the furnace and cleaning it out so it would run again.  New water heater coming tomorrow I get to install and then up on the roof again.  I may fool her and go fishing though as she's young and will survive but the ice is coming and fishing will end.
I say what I think not think what I say.

I have often wondered how water problems always seem to come at the most unexpected, inopportune times.  In bed asleep, get up to take a nice, gentle pee, and you are wide awake walkiing on a wet, cold carpet.  Man, that's a bummer.  When it rains, it pours sure does apply to more than Morton salt.  :pout:

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I installed a water heater and could not for the life of me get the connections water tight?  Every time I soldered the copper pipes they would end up leaking when water pressure built up.    :madd:   This went on for two days.  I got so frustrated that I ended up with a piece of hose and a clamp to stop the pin hole leak.

About a year and a half  later at a different house, after we moved to west Kentuky, I was fixing a busted out side faucet and had the same problem.  The solder joint had a pin hole leak.   :madd:

I finally figured out I had been using electrical solder.   :doh2:   :doh2:   :doh2:

I am an expert at soldering copper pipes now.   :eyebrownod:

Yeah, not a huge deal, but still enough to be a pain in the butt.  :eyebrownod:
I'd go fishin too Barry, I'm sure she'd understand.  :nono:  :laf:
There's something about water Al that's never good when it ends up where it's not supposed to be.  :laf:
I hear ya Glen, there's a few things that I have that are old enough that I'm going back and forth on,
"should I replace it??" " If it's not broke don't fix it."  and the stuff made today don't last like the stuff
of yesterday. I think we put this one in 7 years ago, that's about right, I looked it up and it had a 6 year warranty.  :laf:
:laf: I could see where that could be a problem Semp :laf: That's why I'm gonna eliminate that problem,
I'm gonna try the SharkBite fittings on this one I think.

In this case, for the water heater, it looks like this,

screw em into the top of the water heater, and push in
your water lines, done deal. Cost is more, but easier too.
They have a website too.    http://www.sharkbiteplumbing.com/
