Old Shotgun Red Dot

I used to hunt with an old red dot scope on my shotgun. The red dot was given to me by an uncle. It has long been broken and discarded.

About 10 years ago I ran into another one and picked it up from a co worker. It has been in my reloading desk since I bought it until the Redbird hunt. TopDawg had one on his shotgun a little different style but the same technology.


I would like some info on it but don't even have a name of it to google it.

Does anyone have any info on this Red Dot????

They are great sights and work surprisingly well in low light and needs no batteries.

I will be as soon as they mail me that Hat?  But being thats old scope, I'd look funny in an old truckers hat that had a Pro Staff stitched patch on it from the 70's.  :roflmao:

Rich, like Todd said it's a Weaver Quick Point. I know they were being produced some time in the late 60's or early 70's, maybe even a little earlier.
This may help, here’s a couple of side views of one I own, mounted on a vintage Rem. 1100.  If you can't find a mount, a standard (blank) Weaver base should work. Just have it drilled and tapped to match the mounting holes in the Quick Point.

I have a brother in law that has one just like this on a .44 mag carbine rifle. Its an awsome little gun, but it was tough sighting that thing in.

Is the red dot (laser beam I am assuming? Maybe early fiber optics?) projected to the target or only inside the sighting device?
