I got no problem at all with Canada. I have several friends that are up there in all that tundra. Just kidding about the tundra it is actually quit a biodiverse country.   I have met people from all over the world with some of the events I have been to. And I can tell you I have met some bad and I have met some good and i find for the most part the good out weighs the bad.

I am like my grandpa and Uncles. Never met anyone I couldnt talk to and make friends with. Once made a friend with a fence post. Talked to him for better than two days. Then it stopped raining and the sun came out and I got hot so I went inside.

Oh and for me it dont matter, blond, brunett, Redhead. I just want them breathing. Then again, bald  :eyebrow: aint bad.  You know what a blond is dont ya...................................Thats a Redhead that got the fire Fcuked out of her!

BUT Buckeyes!! I dont trust no Buckeye!!!  :noway:

Just kidding about that. Ohio is cool, cept for them trafic laws.....

Where'd the term "buckeye" come from  :shrug:.  I've always kinda/sorta aimed between them.
I say what I think not think what I say.

A Buckeye is a nut that grows on a Buckeye tree and some call it a Worthless nut..... :laf: :laf:

The tree holds special meaning to folks in Ohio .......they even call their collage football team the Buckeyes

its the nick name of the state.

Ohio = Buckeye
Indiana = Hoosier
Missouri = Show me state
so on and so forth.
And your guess is as good as mine on the origins of the names.
In the states there is usually some good natured anomosicty between states. Indiana makes fun of Kentucky. Kentucky makes fun of there cousins, that kind of thing. Kind of like rival teams in school.

I now know the buckeye tree as I copy and pasted it in to the google thingy.  That's a pretty tree and they should be proud of it.  Hoosier sounds like the guy who put's hoses on something :confused:.  Show me state, kinda sounds like 11 year olds playing spin the bottle :shrug:.  Up here I call Saskatewanites Rat Landers so I guess it is much the same.  Except for the frogs cause none of that is friendly in this country at all. :noway:

No really, in all seriousness. I know what your talking about. When I am out on my bike people always look at me a little diffrent. I have heard more than one mother say "get away from those people they are dirty". Yeah I have come close to the point of coming unglued but what good would that do. They have no idea who I am. They have no idea that I am a father and care giver. Who are they to judge who I am and what I am all about just by the way I look or what I care to do in my free time to enjoy myself.

Thoughts on talking.  :wo:    ;yes;

I think this is a great place, and obviously talking is a huge part of it. It's very cool how you can come here meet people from all over the place, hundreds if not thousands of miles apart, where we never would've had the opportunity to otherwise. We can come here and share great moments, accomplishments, good times, bad times, prayer requests, ideas, reviews, stories of all kinds. Show pictures of hunts, scenery, or family. There's people here that I feel closer to, and would share things with, then people that I see every day. "Talking " on the internet and these boards, can have its advantages and disadvantages. Typed conversations can be hard to decipher some times. It can be tough to read a persons emotions, good thing for the smileys, they help. On the advantage side, if you're face to face having a discussion and it gets somewhat heated, words can be blurted out, and once said can't be taken back. There have been several times on the net, can't really think of a time on here though off the top of my head, where a discussion got somewhat heated, I thought the other party or parties, were just plain being dumb, stirring crap, unreasonable, or whatever, where I typed a response that was just bringing me down to there level, and by the time I was done typing, had time to think about it before I hit "post", and either deleted it, or modified it. There's also some times that I can get pissed when I fully believe that some will say things to ya that they wouldn't otherwise be saying to you face to face.   :nono:  After a time I think you can get a pretty good idea of a persons character by how they convey themselves on these boards. With that said, I think you can only get to know a person so well by just conversations on the net. There are many of you that I would really like to spend some time with. Some I may never get that chance, but I hope and trust that some day I'll get that opportunity with many.
When you brought up the topic of Canadians and Americans, it's "funny" how that can work some times. I've been to Canada several times, if you go into a business of some sorts, or even walking down the street, or whatever, and deal with somebody that's a jerk, it can be easy for a person to say " fricken Canadians". Same as that Canadian business owner putting up with some tourist/vacationer that's being a jerk and saying "fricken Americans".  Or you "hick"," redneck","yankee" or " insert whatever racial example here".  It's not right but people can generalize or categorize when looking at someones actions. As far as Canada goes, like I said I've been there quit a few times and enjoy it very much. I do think it is unfortunate with the things a guy has to put up with at the border crossings. I'm sure both ways. Plus the fact that your country wants me to do a bunch of paper work and pay them another couple hundred bucks before they'll let me back in there.  :pout: :noway: :eyebrownod:
Well enough (rambling) talking for now.  :whew:  Hope some of it made some sense.  :biggrin:

I will say that I do more "talking" on this site than most. I like this site. get along with most everyone. And the ones I dont get along, with well we jsut dont "talk" anymore.

I personally don't talk much, but I hope you don't hold that against me Barry or any of the rest of you for that matter.  :innocentwhistle:

I started coming to these boards to learn and the only way that can happen is through talking (typing). I've learned a lot in the last decade. Met several folks that I'm proud to call friends. I will consider it an honor to get to meet you Barry. I already feel like I know you, but being able to shake your hand, look you in the eye and have a few laughs together will be a treat.
I may bust a little on Canadians while your here, but I assure you I'll bust on the Yanks even more.  :eyebrownod: However, if you'll take notice, I will bust on myself more than both of those groups put together.  :biggrin:
I like laughter. I believe it helps open us up to our emotions and relieves stress. It is also very useful in breaking the ice with people you don't know. I very seldom pass someone, whether they be black, white, green, democrap, republican, short, tall, fat, thin, crippled, cross eyed or crazy, that I don't at least smile at them and most of the time will say hello. My wife hates going to stores with me, because if I see someone I know, even if it's just a little, I always at least take a minute or two and talk with them. Sometimes it can last 30 minutes or better.  :shrug: :eyebrow:
I assure you that if I were to say something that hurt someone's feelings when I was just joking with them, that it would bother me.
A few years ago we had a fella come to the LBL that went by the username of Arse on here. I just knew he was my kind of fella to have a handle like that. I thought, "Now this guy is one crazy sumgun with a heck of a sense of humor". When he showed up, I let loose. I actually thought he was having a good time. Found out later that I had offended him.
I've never forgotten that lesson. It still bothers me to this day that I caused someone else to not enjoy themselves, because I had misjudged them. Now I'm a little more conservative about others at the LBL and spend most the time busting on myself. I wear ridiculous items or get ups. Tell totally embarrassing stories about myself that many others love to still bring up. I do antics that others take pictures of and think they really got something on me. That's the fun of it to me. If everyone leaves there laughing, whether it be with me or at me makes no difference, it is all good.  :highclap:
You just get on down here and relax. It will be a good time and we will walk away from the experience, hopefully with a deeper appreciation of our event and the time we all get to spend together. It makes this board more like home and in some small way makes us all more comfortable with one another. That leads to us being able to express ourselves more freely with each other here.......in most cases.  ;yes;

after editing my post I shoulda left it alone but I made it personal per say about my upbringing.  My upbringing is why I'm here and consider this board family oriented, thats basically it, I was raised just like yall by my grandparents who are my hero's.

Bopeye, laughter does bring good to this world, many times I've been down and read a post here that lifted me up, although I may not replied, it still does help  :yoyo:

Up brining? My upbringing aint got a thing to do with why I am here. :eyebrow: If the people that helped raise me would find me sitting here typing on this devils box I would get a swift trip to the wood shed for wasting my time on that dammnible thing and not doing my chorse :pout:. I get on here to find out the whos, whats and wherefors from other people that have learned the hard way. I get on here to have discussions with other people that share simmilar intrests. Two people dont have to be of exectally the same mind set to share similiar intrests.  HERE I am jsut trying to get in touch with my inner coyote. I have found several hunting/predator/varmint sites and they all have something to offer. Some have more to offer than others. This is my home page cause I like the openess of the site. That and I find lessed bias discussions. No one is trying to cram it down my gullet that I should be using this call or this brand or I have to spend so much money before I am admited to the back room and learn the new secret hand shake. MOST people say whats on there mind. They dont do it simply to offend someone. In fact most try not to offend with there postings and such but they understand that it is going to happen. When more than one person gets together there is the possibility for someone to get offened or hurt or what ever other type of adjective you want to put there. If someone does offend someone an appoligy is usually issued, either in open forum or in a IM. Then it is dropped and everything moves on. Some sites keep the hurt feeling fresh so that they have soemthing to talk/flame about.

I would dearly love to go to the LBL. Can I? Most lilley not. No income means very little travel and if I were gona go there I want to HUNT while I am there. No income means no out of state licensing. I like to go to new places and see and do new things. Hunting at the LBL would be a new experience for me. I have been there in the past but never hunting, always fishing or camping. Just going to sit around a fire sharing yarns would be a great time but I feel the need for recoil and muzzle blasts. The gum flapping and good whisky comes at the end of the hunt. Not in place of the hunt. This is only my opinion and I hope I havnt offended anyone by it. Sitting around for a BS session is fun and great memeories can come from it. Sharing memeories to help make new ones kind of thing.

In closing: I like this site. Been here sense the begining or there abouts. Got people on here that I feel close to. got people on here that I would like to give a bloody nose to and some of those people are the ones I feel close to. I have been a member of several diffrent orginizations and I can tell you this. they all have there clicks and in each case one click dosnt like the other click and so on and so forth. It is usually one person in each click that is actually the one that starts the anamosity cause he dont like someone in the other click. So you have a group of people not liking another group of people and no one knows why. This site seems to have gotten past that. .

Enough of my rambling. Time to go do some chores..

I guess what I meant is I feel comfortable around yall, thinking it was the way I was raised.

Same here, I'd love to go to the LBL, but there's times esp. winter where I'm living paycheck to paycheck.  I dont think I'll ever make it,  heck, Steve has invited me to duck hunt the big Lake with him but I just cant find the time or $$$ and that's in our own state.  Right now we're back to one vehicle for the 2 of us, I'm hitching rides to work etc etc etc but I still have a roof over my head with a job,  heat, food, and momma and kids are happy.   I'm thankful for that.

pitw

Having food, shelter and a family is as good as it gets in my eyes.  I have more than I need and I don't want anything materialistic so that helps.  Hunting coyotes would be fun and is important like slag says.  For me the LBL is a chance to see an area I have read about and seen pictures of.  It is the opportunity to see what you guys talk about and to actually get to touch a tree that I've never had a chance to touch.  That and I really want to say Hi, eye to eye with everyone that's there who have touched my life in whatever way it was stroked.  This talking thing is as important to me now as booze was 25 years ago and I'm here to tell you a lot more productive and a dang sight less damaging. :yoyo:

I'll talk with you Barry. We will shake hands, might even give you a big guy hug. However, that stroking business is going to have to be done by some of my yankee brethren. I hear they like that.  :laf:
