Not to be morbid but I'm starting to make a "Bucket List"  of things I want to do before the "Big Event".  These are not in any order and I'm sure we'll add things to it.

1.  Take an Alaskan cruise.
2.  Hunt Brown Bear in Alaska.
3.  See the Great Wall of China.
4.  Go to Canada for a week of fishing, with my five grandsons.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

Good post. Should be interesting.
I'll put a little more thought into it, then reply.

Yep, good list.  Looks doable, too.  This should be an interesting thread.

I made such a list, more mentally than written, when I was in my teens.  I never called it a bucket list nor even thought about other people making such lists.  I can't believe it but I've done nearly everything on my list.  There are a few that I've changed my mind about for various reasons, and had no interest in doing once I learned enough and got in position to do them.  I.e shooting a shark with a bow fishing rig.  I shot a nine footer with a spear gun from a small boat one day when we were skin diving, virtually the same experience and easier than shooting carp with a bow in a pond so I never followed through with the bow.

And I keep adding things as I learn more about my world.  I'd like to do some exploring on the ground in Iceland and fish the fabulous looking reefs scattered among rocky islands near the Iceland shore.  But partly why I want to do Iceland is because it looks like places I've hunted and fished in Canada.    Baffin Island looks fascinating from the air, and I'll probably never set foot on it, with no deep regrets there either.  There are some cliffs and rock mountains in mid Sahara desert that look fascinating from the air and would be fun to visit, but again, I've done some pretty fine desert/mountain stuff.

I wish I had ridden the Trans-Siberian Railway during the decade of amazing openness right after the fall of the Soviet Union.  I knew the best shot at that would last only a few years and I have no super regrets due to family responsibilities at the time.  I could still do it but have travelled so much in difficult poor countries that it would not be enough fun at my age to offset the hassle and discomfort.  Along that line I just turned down a trip to West Africa in Feb., and the poor farm boy part of me inside can't believe that I turned down international travel.  :doh2:

Killing a cougar that I call is still on my list, as are a lynx and a wolf.  I've called all three, had others shoot cougars and lynx, but not done the deed myself.  I'd be out today after cougar if weather conditions weren't counter to that project.

My best hunting friend and I were reminiscing a few months ago and one of us said, with a grin, "If we drop dead today we've had a pretty good run at it and had more fun than most.  We sure can't complain!"

JohnP, here's hoping and praying that you do all on your list and far more!

"JohnP I think we may be about the same age," - I'll turn 70 this year.

I did the dove hunt in Argentina several years back and would go back again so if you need company let me know.  You can't imagine it until you done it.  When I first got there I asked the host how many birds a day can we shoot?  His reply "You can't shoot that much!"  The barrel gets so hot you need to wear gloves, one AM I killed well over 200 birds.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I'm too simple I guess.
I've hunted 7 states and about the only thing I can think of that I'd really like to do before my number is called, is see my lil monkeys grow up to be successful.
As much as I worry about what this world is going to be like when they are my age, it worries me sick to think of them either going through life with out me looking over them, or them not being prepared.
And you cannot imagine how often I set and ponder that exact thing.

I'd like to go elk and bear hunting. To do it with a handgun would be nice too, but just icing on the cake. Other than that, I just want to retire at a decent age with my health and putter on the farm and hunt.

Al, all you need do is just get out here and we can call coyotes from sunup to sundown.  Buy your license and we will board ya and feed ya.  You'll  have to apply for an Arizona tag for elk but if drawn, again we will put you up.
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

I need a bigger bank account to really get serious about a bucket list.      I think all of us who have kids have them on our bucket list and I am no different.  Having them there is also what keeps me (and probably others) from really going wild on a bucket list.   I wanted to visit all 50 states and I made that one shortly after I retired with the trip to Alaska.  Beyond that I am pretty happy just doing all the day to day things that come along.

I've only got two or three things that I would like to do.  One of them is the Alaska cruise.  My wife and I have talked about it for years.  So I signed up for one in June.   Maybe I can get Sarah to show us around.

HaMeR

I would like to take Diane to Alaska & do a moose hunt with the muzzle loader when they are in the height of the rut. Otherwise I just want to be a good parent, husband & grandpa.

I also wouldn't mind hitting the lottery.  :laf: :laf:

Yeah, me too!  It would make all those other bucket wishes a lot easier to accomplish.
