I've had two buddies from the Georgia coast (Hinesville) here with me since Friday. They came over for a change in scenery and to do some serious duck hunting. I've scouted duck ponds all week to set these guys up. Well all I can say is I've done my part ... I did mention I may give some wing shooting lessons for there next trip, grin

Me not being "mad" at the waterfowl anymore, and not getting out after the yotes since the gun room project decided to do something different. I had an itch that needed a fix, so I had another buddy meet us at the duck pond and the two of us slipped across the road for some calling. I'd spyed a spot that looked really nice last time here and the wind was perfect for it this morning so we decided we'd hit it first. We were there early so I set the call and decoy up from the truck and we drove a couple hundred yards away and parked and waited on daylight. Just before we walked back around the hilltop to our set. I made a few lone female howls just at daylight, waited about ten minutes then went to the bunny blues. About two minutes into them two coyotes come bouncing around the hilltop within 50 yards of my buddy. The way we have always hunted , the man on the right takes the shot on the right and the man on the left takes the left. I shoot last, always. Well the female was the lead dog and I was on her ... waiting on my buddy to shoot. The yote went by him and stopped about 75 yards straight out in front of us, I was still on the lead yote, waiting on my buddy to shoot. He never did ... we was next to busted and the coyotes were getting antsy fast. I took my shot ... scared the H*LL out of my buddy (but woke him up) rolled the female and swung around on the male that was now doing Mach 3 and had to pull off cause I was swinging towards my bud, who was still rolling around in the bushes trying to get his bearings. It should have been (and probably) could have been a double but, we'll have to settle for just one on this set. Made a second set but came up empty. We'll get back after them tomorrow with vengeance... and reinforcements. My regular hunting partner, my youngest son will be with me. Here is the hero shot of the female, she was a nice healthy girl.

As you can see I'm pretty disgusted about it. :innocentwhistle:

I can move it if you'd like me to with three clicks,  but it's not hurting anything.

A belated congratulations on that coyote.  I've had a few guys I had to wake up while on stand, but just once.  That first picture looks like some good duck water.  Ya got a retriever?
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

My John - The desire to replace my old hunting buddy Jack has just not been in me. He kinda spoiled me I reckon. I have not shot any birds since he died. Sometimes I think I want to get back into it, but that's about as far as it goes - just a thought. With the ticker like it is and diabetes messing with my vision nowadays I don't think it would be fair to me or another retriever to start over. Maybe one day?

Here's a picture of Kacie with her master. She is a nice little dog and does a good job. Handles with the best of them and don't have any bad habits. She'll pick up most anything you send her after and take it to it's rightful owner. Just don't send her for a wounded goose - she don't have much use for them, grin.

You're in Ga? I was thinking you were in Pa or WV.
I was in Augusta New Years. Got a new granddaughter there.

Oh yeah, loved the story & pix too!

vvarmitr - I'm in middle Georgia not to far from Macon. I have a good friend over in Augusta - he's across the river in North Augusta which is in SC. I try and get over there from time to time. A belated Congrats on the new Granddaughter if I hadn't sent'em to ya already ...
