Seeing as it nasty out[blowing snow and mean] Donny and I have been going through our change just to see what we got.  He has quarters from 11 states and 1 from Puerto Rico.  What's up with the Puerto Rico quarter .

Puerto Rico came under United States sovereignty by thr Treaty of Paris signed on December 10, 1898, terminating the Spanish-American War. Puerto Ricans have been US citizens since 1917. In July 1950, the US Congress enacted Public Law 600. It provided that existing laws which defined the political, economic, and fiscal realtionship between Puerto Rico and the United States should remain in full force.

Thanks guys . I never knew that and was having a tough time explaining it to Donny.   Kinda cool that I can learn stuff just because of a coin.
  Up here our crapping mint has figured out how to make money by turning out a different coin every time I turn around. People then collect them thus taking them out of circulation and the mint makes a mint .

Dude.... even if I were to luck up and win tens of millions in the lottery, doubt I'd buy that Hubble lens. Doesn't seem practical! Now a 800mm f/5.6 with IS and a 1.4x teleconverter for a tenth of that loot (and brand spanking new to boot) would have to rate some serious thought....

FOs I heard that.  It's kinda funny how they actually make some of this stuff and then we look at it and drool even though we know we'd never own it anyway . 

Straycat I appreciate the offer but it gives Donny something to do looking through the coins we get for unusual ones.  If we make it easy for them then I'm afraid their interest would lag.  I know I lag if things get easy. Hence I refuse to use electronics in my hunting cause I think they were made to make it easy[whether it's true or not is beside the point cause it's my thought].  Thanks for the offer.  I may take you up on it in the future to help fill out the set when he gets closer to gathering them all..

Thanks Vic.  Maybe get one of your boys interested and then him and Donny will have something to talk about when we all meet up .  Donny has coins from Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, America, Mexico and I think even some from Canada[could be he spent that].  If nothing else he's learning where on the globe all these countries are  . 
Any of you guys collect old American coins?  I got some I found in an old filing cabinet I bought at a sale.
