Went hunting again this morning and seen something to share here.

Was walking to our second setup down a fence row making our way to the next set of woods to call. As I was walking along i told Mike I was sure the coyotes would be here this morning after scouting several times. It was around 8:30am with only a slight breeze and around 28 to 30 degrees good frost and a little ice.

As I was walking I scanned the field edges and hay bales in case there was a coyote running late getting back to his area.

Well this is what I saw 100 yards out

Well they had decided to get warm after a  night of hunting and was just laying around before heading back in. I have seen many coyotes on hay bales but had only been able to get 1 pic before.

After filming them some they just seemed to not care. I didnt have my good still camera with me but did have another small video cam that took pics also. I got it out of the bag and took a few but they looked awful on the screen so I stopped. After getting home I looked at them and wish I had taken alot more because they were not as bad as I thought.

One got down and another stood up. ole Mike was wanting to shoot these poor guys really bad.  The people around there have never indicated they had a problem with the coyotes and we didn't call them so didn't see a reason to bother them. They were "JUST HANGIN OUT"

Since I can't believe any picture you show  :argh: I'll just admit that bales are one of the best places to find coyotes "Hanging out".  Dead piles would be the other place for that as I just got a call from a fellow who does the same job as 5 Shots and he saw 21 when he came over the hill on a ranch close to the dead pit.
I say what I think not think what I say.

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

Way cool!

I was camping at the homestead a few years ago & saw one on a bale.

You aint right man !  :holdon:   If i had walked up on that scene, there would have been a hailstorm of LEAD flying in their direction !!!!  Those are some cool pics Rich, good work with the cam.

Yeah them is some cool pics.
Up here we line stuff up like that for target practice.

Those  round bales actually couldnt be in a better spot for. Right on the woodline like that, giving them an immediate escape if need be.
Up here most of the farmers leave them out in the middle of the field, wherever they happen to be when they bailer gets full, let go and start another.

Bills Custom Calls

Thats cool Rich

When I was working the strip mines there was a pair that laid on some bales along the haul road for a couple days
before they moved on.

All of the big equipment and coal trucks drove past them several times a day and didn't seem to bother them a bit

Those are very cool pictures but I see the wisdom in Richard's viewpoint.  It is a photoshop world.  Who really knows what's real on the internet?

I think I am going to do the same from now on.

I have looked at these pictures a couple of times now and it is neat to see them enjoying themselves on the bales.  In this area there aren't many of the large bales in the fields.  Much more flatland farming which pays better for the landowner.

Good pictures Rich, but my finger would have got itchy  :roflmao: :roflmao:

When I worked in central Montana, I was hauling a dead cow over to the bone pile. I looked out the back window of the tractor and a coyote was following me down the road. The coyotes had started eating on the cow the previous night, so I thought I had better get it out of the pasture before it was all bones, and messed up the swather the next time we cut hay. The coyote followed me all the way to the bone yard, staying about 100yds away.
