A piece of sand stone inside a block of cherry destroyed my new band saw blade in about two seconds........

Well at least there is a bright side... you lost a blade but at least you didn't hit it while turning the wood. A chunk of rock like that, flying at high velocity, could do some serious damage to Al. :sick2:

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

YEEEEEEEOUCH I never looked at it like that..... :nono:

I just wonder how the rock came to be where it was??  This was a piece of Crotch cherry, from high off the ground......

It was a VERY old cherry tree and I cant help but wonder all the possibilities......

I had a tree to cut down a while back and when the saw got near the heart I dulled three chains trying to get through it. When it finally hit the ground the stump and butt log had two stones grown up into it. :madd:
Take your kids hunting and you won't have to hunt your kids!

That is weird!

I found a rock like that in a Big Mac once, but never a tree.

It was about ten feet off the ground +or- a couple feet..........Back when we cut it down (about ten years ago) I remember cause it had this Burl looking spot in it I was after and the tree was dead.

So could the rock have caused the burl?  Makes ya wonder if a Battle was fought where this tree was and an impact caused the rock to get lodged in the tree creating a burl for me to ruin my blade on....... :laf:

I have hit bullets and nails and even horse shoes....Barbed wire, and rocks >>......but the rocks were always in the stump....Never up high...... :nono:
