Still kinda cool below the surface but it was fun.

Yeah I know that camera date is wrong. :doh2: Batteries fell out the damn camera due to a crack in the door, and I wanted to get the fish back in the water.

FinsnFur

Dude the water temps up here aren't even 50 degrees yet. Heck the Pikes are still sowing their oats the waters so cold.
I was shocked we got these. Actually we got a couple last night too, right before dark but didnt have a camera.
It wont be long.

I just bought one of those USReels with the super wide spools  yesterday and I was dying to try it out.

im just messin with Jim :yoyo: i fished two days ago and caught about a 5 pound bass, and went to a pond this evening and lost a nice bass probable around 6 pnds. when you gonna have a fishing tourney? :eyebrow: :eyebrow:   o and how did you like the reel? i just ordered a penn conquer spin reel

Todd Rahm

Nice fish'n Jim and that WaterWolf looks tasty.

I think the boys are discussing the fishing tourney now.

The reel? Honestly yesterday it sucked and I wished I would have never spent the money on it. But I think I just needed to get used to it.
I usually change reels every two or three years cause I literally wear them out. Grooves wore into the line rollers, the inside of the bail wire wore flat....
This thing really caught my eye because of the extra wide spool, and the promise of eliminating line twist which is virtually impossible on a spinning reel. These reels have really been the buzz lately, so I thought it a give er a whirl.

I think what made me not real sure of it at first was, they brag about how you can grab a hold of the spool and it will not rock side to side even the slightest because of their bearing system. Well every spinning reel spool will to a certain extent but seriously, who would notice and what does it hurt? It's mounted on a single threaded stem how can it NOT rock slightly?

But this one seriously does not. And I think because the thing is built so solidly it actually caused the reel to retrieve hard. Hard to me anyway, I was going on my third year using my Mitchell Spider Tarantula SP2200 :laf:
I thought to myself, "man this sucks, how hard is it going to be to crank when I actually hook something?"

But today being the second day out with it, either she freed up or it's not even noticeable anymore.

The core of the spool is so wide they actually have a handle thats shaped like a "C" to get out around the spool while cranking.
This really does make for a lot less line twist cause your wrapping it in much less tighter circles.
Plus they include a couple spool arbors to make the core of the spool wider which brings your line closer to the outside of the spools edge. Which makes the line feed of the spool unbelievably smooth during a cast. I mean I could hit Barry's roof from Wisconsin's southern border if the winds were right.

So all in all, despite a bad first impression, I'm happy. It costs me a hundred bucks, but I got a feelings it's gonna outlast any previous reel I've owned.

Arent ya glad ya asked? :doh2:

I got stuck working late tonight, and then beat feat to get back down to the river and get in on some more of it.
Missing my supper time, fished for 2 hours and couldnt even bump a stiff weed to get a cheap thrill. :nono:

Things are really coming together up here, the water is still pretty cool, around 50 degrees, and we yanked these out of a shallow bay this afternoon where the sun had obviously been warming her up a mite.

Real nice Walleye, and boy was he proud. In fact he's eating it while I type this.
