Some turkey calls & strikers

I picked up a new chuck for the lathe & decided to try my hand at turkey calls & strikers. Here are the beginning results.
White Oak with slate over glass & Walnut with glass over glass.





Strikers. Left is carbon/Cherry. The rest are all hickory with crushed sunflower seeds & resin(2), Cedar, Kingwood, Walnut & an all Cherry striker.



2 scratch boxes. I made the boxes but one of the best turkey call makers out there made the paddles & tuned them for me.  Thank You Larry!!  
Left is Walnut & Cedar. Right is a yellow/dark blue laminate & White Oak.

Thanks John. I made one pot call a couple years ago when I 1st got the lathe but didn't know what I was doing. It had a decent sound but zero volume. Here I guess you gotta have a toneboard too.     

  Al!! You watch your potty mouth calling me a call maker!!    A dabbler maybe but not a maker. 

I'll be scratching on the slate call tomorrow AM right around 6:00 Jerry!! 

Thanks Jim. Those are the easy part.  Just grab some hickory dowel rod & turn a topper for it & you're in. Hickory on slate might be the easiest call to learn in my limited experience.
