A sure sign of spring in the desert is when the mesquite trees start to leaf out, they seem to know when the last cold spell is over.

John, I used to live in San Diego and would sometimes run out to El Centro or Yuma and play around in the desert some. I always wanted to go on a round-up to get some critters for the hide and meat, but never had a chance. Those pictures are great! The wifey won't think so though.

Oh I played with a copperhead up here ONCE!!    And I gotta tell ya they aint no match for the riding mower when you see em 1st & can get over em & drop the deck on em!!

Non-poisonous are ok, but them rattlers are something else. Though I wouldn't mind one for a hat band.

Well Barry, seein as how he's about 4 inches taller and fifty pounds lighter? About two minutes longer than you I would say. He'll gather bees all day long but let me sneak a snake in there and you won't see him for half a day

That's a great pic.  I took my son, Dante, out fishing 2 wks ago and saw the same sort of thing, but they were Garter snakes , and only about 10 of em.  They were all rolled up almost as one.  We watched for about a minute and then started fishing.  About two min goes by, and Dante was back at the snakes 'checkin em out'.  Well he he must've broke up the party as a couple went swimming by (baptized).  I found some crappies and he was back with his dad.  (No snakes were harmed during the making of that crappie dinner)!
