Wow what a morning!!!

I set up on a different piece of property today and did a fly down cackle right at daylight, beating my hat on my leg.....
So many birds flew down around me in all directions I had no idea which way to point the gun....

9 times I had different groups of birds strutting in front of .....beside .....and/or behind me.....all of them hung at about 60 yds. and a hen would march them away with no shot taken...

then a single hen came to my call and she acted all funny and lay down....... ....... a gobbler jumped on her and made quick business of his work and went to strutting back over the hill.....

Then when I thought they were all far away enough for me to get rid of some coffee...... I stood up and seen yet another bird strutting at 80 yds...... he would have to watch me as it had been over two hours.......

I then worked my way around some big rocks using them for cover......and got to where the birds kept hanging up....
YELP YELP YELP i said on my mouth call....... GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!!!!! here he came..... about a ten inch beard......He got to about 75 yds down hill from me and BANG!!!!!!!   he fell in the creek sideways of my position.....Only one problem....... I dont shoot my shotgun that far and today was no different..... I had not even taken the safety off yet....

Seeing how I am the only one with permission to hunt this land I waited for the trespasser to reveal himself and then we had a harsh chat about safety in the turkey woods and state laws and such!!!!!
His only excuse was that I had so many birds worked up that he could not resist to come see......
So I guess I called another bird for someone else.....only I did not have my camera.....cause I was just hunting alone I thought......
I would have felt awful shooting that bird with some unknown fella down there.........god knows I could hit a rock and hit him with a few bouncing pellets......

I got to see one breed and at one time I had 8 or 9 strutters in front of me 

3 hours of holding the gun at the ready today....... I will return and see what happens next.....with my camera.

If I used a rifle which is legal here...this could have been real bad......But when I return I bet he aint there after our little chat.....

freakin hens !!!  Seen a bunch of them today too.   Ole tom wasnt so responsive, gobble once then shut right up.   

You'll get em Al  !!!    We're getting a cold front with nasty weather overnight

The wind blew hard here yesterday and no gobbles heard.....But I was not on the same farm either.....I am giving those birds a rest till Monday.

We gave up yesterday and went to cut wood and while taking a break @ about 11 AM a big tom strutted right past my truck about 20 ft. from where I was eating a sandwich.....   No gun just a dumb look on my face.....

great story AL  stay afterem.and the dude that sliped in on your spot that was just plain stupid of him very dangerious thing to do while turkey hunting beeing somewhere your not supposed to be  im sure you give him an ear full
