I picked this little gem of a block up when I had the honor of accompanying Coulter to the wood store a while back. I had a good day just talking to Steve about a lot of things & picking thru the massive quantities of wood that we seen. Diane asked me to pick up a piece of wood to make her a plate for work. So I did. I picked up a 10"x10"x2" chunk of Amboyna Burl. I took all the wax off & let it set for about 2 months & decided today was the day. Man was it a scary feeling watching the wood on a $48 blank disappear little by little!! But I get it done. This is only my 3rd plate & I still have a bunch to learn about turning them. But I did get a little detail around the rim.

Well, it looks like you've succeeded... the piece looks fine to me...

Thanks Chet. Mother nature made it tho. I just took the corners off it.  :laf: And it was gonna be an LBL special call that I was hoping "someone" would be able to use.  :innocentwhistle:

Well Bop. That would be a mighty expensive set right there. Now if you were to pony up the $$ I would gladly get to work on it for you my Friend. Just send a GOOD check for $500 & we'll get er done.  :yoyo: :yoyo:  And Thank you.

Thanks Al. The wood really deserves the credit tho.  :yoyo: :yoyo:

I wouldn't mind going back there again. If work plays out for the rest of the year like it MIGHT I'll be dragging Bill behind the truck to get him up there.  :eyebrow:
