This for Barry to see what a persimmon tree looks like with persimmons.

This is some Persimmon Trees.

Persimmons on the tree.

More Persimmons.

If you eat one of the persimmons at the stage they are now (Green) they will take the swelling out of your head and are  :puke: bitter, in the fall they will turn orange and taste pretty good, all Wildlife love them. cc

pitw

Way cool Carl. :yoyo: :yoyo:  Never saw one of them before for a fact and I found a way to take the swelling out of my head last week without them :doh2:.  Why would they remove swelling .
I say what I think not think what I say.

FinsnFur

Looks like they got fly poop all over the leaves. :laf:

Barry you have to be careful asking me questions like that you never know what I might come up with,  but actually they will make you pucker just like this  :puke: make your mouth draw. But good when ripe. We have a Deer Stand at about 250 yards from those trees and is one of our favorite places to hunt, see lots of Deer along with other critters. cc

Looks like a good crop on that tree there. Be a nice place to be after the frost.

Were those trees cultivated for a crop or are they wild growing?
When they come for mine they better bring theirs

So are persimmons a fruit or a nut .  I hate being an idiot but hey I was born with what I have :readthis:.

KySongDog

It is a fruit.  Coyotes love them.

slagmaker

Semp lets be honest. If it is a wild critter it loves persimmons  :eyebrow:

The wood from a persimmon tree is also an excellent wood to make calls from.   :readthis:  It's very dense and solid, but it is a very plain looking wood that is light tan in color.

hand call user primarily, but if you gotta use an e-caller, there ain't nothing that sounds better than a Wildlife Tech

Well then send me a seed or two .  How much harder can a Persimmon be to grow than a Peanut .  And don't forget the Buckeyes  :innocentwhistle:.

OK I will have to see what I can find. I have several buckeyes so ifnf I find some persimmon seeds to send your way you will get some buckeyes as well

The Persimmon has a unique taste, makes real good jelly. The trees in the picture are wild growing but we do fertilize them from time to time, there are Persimmon trees all over the property and new ones coming up every year and  we avoid cutting them down, every tree in the picture produce a heavy load of fruit every year but not all trees produce fruit, strange? we have one area that we call the Persimmon Patch that is 2 to 3 aces in size with 25 to 30 trees in it with only about 25% produce fruit, we have not figured out why some produce and some don't, they all look the same and don't know if one is male or female but they are a magnet for wildlife. Ever seen a deer drunk on 'em?  If they spend more than an hour eating them they ferment on hte stomache. I watched one for an hour and a half once before I got a shot. And for some strange reason deer here only feed under certain trees.

And coons are the most fun to watch around one. They do get into some strange positions trying to the ripe fruits. And even fall out occasionally. My laughing has cost me more than one bow shot over the years at deer. I don't know why they spook  :shrug:Jimmie

Thats pretty neat...I wonder if Possumal  will be hitting them up when they ripen ......I allus heard possums loved em.

I'd spend the days out there watching that stuff and never worry about shooting anything.  Tha t would be right up my alley for a fact.  While in Australia I found a tree covered with grape vines and the birds were getting snookered.  They soon found out it was not a good idea to drink and fly :alscalls: :alscalls: :alscalls:

I've never seen the Deer get drunk that would be something to see, I have seen the Coons fall out of the tree trying to get the persimmons out on the very end of the limb, Jimmy I guess the Deer that spooked never heard a guy from Kentucky laughing like a Hyena.  :hahaha:  :hahaha: cc

slagmaker

I have seen deer and horses get drunk from eating ferminted fruit. It is quite comical to watch.
