When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

The real question is: What's not to like?  :thumb2:

I would say Doug will flip his wig.  :laf:

Born and raised in the southern highlands of Appalachia, I'm just an ol' country boy who enjoys calling coyotes... nothing more, nothing less.

   I honestly am not sure Jim.  To try to make an honest stab/guess  on the barrels (counting the finish) 3 or 4 hours.  The toneboards on the ivory is a real pain... the tusks are hooked something awful, so I put them in the lathe chuck and after a terrible beating I get is kind of close to straight... usually has a pretty good sized portion missing from one side.... that plays into the ramp...but makes it harder than heck to hold on to. lol  I've payed as much as $45 for a warhog tusk and got 1 good toneboard out of it.....oops you didn't ask that did you! lol  anyway I'd guess around 2 hours on the toneboard counting finish.  So I'll say 6 hours if everything goes right... which rarely happens... the finish I do is a pain in the butt.  On this set the enclosed reed when I thought it was done I looked at it while it was on the lathe... with a magnifying glass (eyes ain't as good as they used to be) I notice on the ACCENT RING (dang it VV)  there was white....(air got trapped under the finish) I had to cut through the finish and re-burn the line then refinish I'm guessing here I really go by how it looks when I'm doing it but better than 20 coats.  I don't use medium or thick CA only the thin (just what works/looks best to me)  so I have to use more coats. So I'd have to say at least another 1 1/2 hrs on it.
