What the Heck is THIS ???

Never know what one will come across in Texas!

Anyone have an idea what this weird critter is? I'll help you out a bit..... it's no cat, dog, raccoon, possum, nor badger!

And no..... it's NOT a chuppacabra! 

I will also speculate that the critter in question normally doesn't have a "bob-tail".
I think something at one time (another animal or snare/trap) may have tried to capture it..... and all they got was it's tail!

Not a wolverine. They're not indigenous to Texas.

Yeah that's a Coatis & it lost it's tail somewhere along the line.

Looks like a Coatimundi (spelling?)  I carved one on a call one time for a fellow in Arizona.

late on seeing this but definite a white nose coati mundi indigenous to south america. ddint know u had em in texas but researched nd they have been brought in. thought u were pullling our leg and some one sent u pic from south america. liek the pen raised deer . u tricky like that

run wild in AZ you can even hunt them ,i think you can take 1 a year .
when i was at globe calling it was  #1 one on my wish list even more so then a lion...

its a dream critter for me them and a ring tail

I am not as sure about that species, but it looks like Hunchback Water Stealers.  I believe that they are native to Mexico, but have become a problem in the US as well.

I haven't seen a ring tail cat myself for at least three years. 

There is a place out in the Hill Country that use to have a good population. The last few times I was out there (3 years ago or so) we struck out. Maybe we decimated the population!
