This past weekend seemed to be a hair pulling event for me. The peice of acylic and afzelia burl broke apart several time before I could get it finished. At one point I almost threw i nthe towl but experience has taught me to keep going till you get it right. Being a machinist help ed as well being able to relocate the two halves with in relative closeness. Learned that there might be a better way to glue these two types of materials together as the next project will incorperate this idea. So if anyone does have other good sugestions I would love to hear them. Just need to polish it a bit more than it will be done. I give to you THE YELLOW JACKET

I am glad to see that you went ahead and finished the yellowjacket off.  Turned out looking good.  I like the looks of the finger grooves in the acrylic and you have a nice finish on the wood.

That must be the one you posted freshly glued the other day Bryan. I like that wood/acrylic combo. That looks really sharp.

Look en good Bryan. I been working on a Acrylic/wood call myself. Kind of a new design for me.

You might try not gluing it at all. Just turn a small 5/8" or 1/2" tip to press into the acrylic, or use o-rings and grooves to hold them togeather. I think THO has a post on his site about using o-rings to hold calls togeather not sure.

I'm not happy with my design yet though. Not sure what it needs yet. But more work for sure. I did get my new two piece call design done this weekend though. Only took two days to make 4 calls.....lol
