first raised panel checkering

Only the second time I have picked up some checkering tools.....(I really dont'know what I'm doing) and my first raised panel. After seeing the finished product as well as
the unfinished, I see why some use an oil finish. I think the high gloss takes away from some of the detail. Man, that osage is a lot tougher to checker than my first one of walnut!

Osage with ca finish, brass band. Thats the tools I used to raise the panels....gotta be an easier way!!??

I think it looks good.  I also remember somebody else doing raised panels/checkering like that but can't remember who for sure.

Looks like you did a very good job on it and much better than my attempts on "flat" woods many years ago.

That's sharp as heck David! ... I like the wood, the checkering looks good ... but I have to agree I'd like to see it with a satin finish.. hard to make out the details with the gloss.
